I love ECM but ill say for sure that in its infant stages it is OP. what makes it OP is that it is a continuous use item that effects other items/systems. With us having 10 minute matches I believe ECM can still be effective and deadly to your enemy if it has to be turned on and can only be used for a 60 second window and then needs to have a 2 minute cool down/reboot time frame before it can be used again for 60 seconds. If it was implemented this way it would cause those to use it to use better tactics on when to use it or not to use it. Do you want that 60 second window to push on the enemy and gimp the incoming LRMs? Than that's when you hit that ECM to on. Do you want to hold the line but have a small force circle around and flank? Do so but your strike team doing so only has a 60 second window under ECM for the moment so make it count. I believe if it was implemented this way, all things that ECM does now can be kept and used but not in a continuous manor as we have now. This would also allow the LRMs and other systems that ECM effects to become important again as people can still use these other systems when the ECM guys are in that cool down/reboot phase. If this is how ECM was implemented, any one mech could only ever use ECM 3 times in a given match. This would also take into account both modes... Disrupt or counter. So make sure you know what your role for that match will be because you will only get so many uses out if it in a 10 minute match.

What do you think?

Wall of text man, WALL OF TEXT. It's... scary and horrifying. Use more paragraphs please.

Considering the suggestion. Why isn't it much simpler just to limit ECM coverage on a number of mechs?

8 ECM-capable mechs, first turns its ECM at the beginning of the match, next 30 seconds later and so on. When 7th mech's ECM switches off, first one turns its unit on again. This way you have two ECMs on at all times for 12 minutes.

I think ECM is already effective, but not OP.
