If you like big robots and gorgeous graphics, this might be relevant to your interests.

We are very proud to present the debut trailer for Reset. Everything you see in the trailer is straight from the in-game engine, no up-ressed textures, geometry or effects. What you see is what you will get. Except hopefully a little bit better since we’re not even in alpha yet.

A friend tells me that if you plug the proper equation ("instead of the crap approximation everybody likes to use") into the global illumination model, "it just looks this good". Cheers!

Wow that looks awesome, if they can achieve graphics like that in game it'd be spectacular!

Nice link.

I'm sorry, I can't resist the urge to correct. You might want to take the time to read a bit before you post random opinions, it's an awesome skill, really.

Quote: Reset is a single player co-op first person puzzle game with a strong emphasis on story and atmosphere. The unique game mechanic in Reset is the ability to travel back in time to solve puzzles co-operatively, with yourself.

So, nothing at all like Hawken or Mechwarrior. Still relevant.

Making things look insanely good is not really a problem in games. The problem is making sure the game can run on as many machines as possible, and to do so you have to make use of "crap approximations" because they don't make the computers processor melt.

The graphics in the trailer -is- nice though. I'd just like to know what kind of monster computer they had it running on :D

Really? Have you done it?

Probably something that's going to be considered crap by, eh, tomorrow afternoon or something. Your point is moot.

Ok, my bad, I visited their site but found no further information on the first look.
First I thought that you want to present another "competitor" like Hawken but it seems to be something totally different.

In fact I have.

Not at all. It can make a world of difference if the computer is a regular off-the-shelves consumer computer, or something which would be more at home in a NASA datacentral.

Actually, there is an answer to your question (what kind of monster computer they had it running on).

PS: Sure, that's not very specific, but certainly not exactly big iron.

Very very beautiful rendering. It's amazing what computers can do these days.

But on that note basic current gen i7 rigs can be anything from something you buy at Wally-World to a custom machine packing dual Nvidia 690s. The processor isn't whats in question it's the Graphics horsepower and memory infrastructure. As a developer I wouldn't be surprised if their machines are packing some serious GFX goodness, not that I can blame them, that's what you do when you are making games and want them to look good.
