The TAG in question is in my mech.
The missiles I'm trying to fire are in my mech.
I tag an enemy mech while inside their ECM bubble.
I hold my cursor over the enemy mech.
The target locking reticle never pops up.

I understand that my teammates should not get the target info from this, but I'm not trying to pass this on to teammates, I'm trying to trash the enemy ECM mechs and rid us of the problem entirely. This cannot be "works as intended" since there is nothing to jam transmission-wise.

You can tag a mech using Ecm from outside the bubble, once you are inside your Tag stops working..

Why? All the tag is is a blinky red light. We have had the tech to make this work since the 80's in real life. ECM is supposed to block signal info. Unless it is set to cover everything within the bubble with blinky red light of the same wavelength, there is no logical reason this would in any way interfere with the operation of the device, only the retransmission of the target data. Your tag should work for you inside the bubble.

There are two reasons TAG would not work for the mech it is mounted on inside the bubble.

1) It's a bug.

or

2) PGI didn't bother looking into what targeting lasers actually do in real life. (They put an invisible dot on something and then a missile looking for that dot shows up and blasts the dot into bits. They're really not that complicated on the laser end.)

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and submitting it as a bug.

Working as intended, your targeting system gets disrupted when inside an enemy ECM bubble. Targeting system disrupted = no missile lock. The only way to get a target lock would be to stand OUTSIDE the ECM bubble and TAG the target. Then you can lock on and fire.

Or get your friendly ECM to disrupt their bubble.

Or stop relying on SSRMs and get som regular SRMs and/or lasers.

ECM if this is working as intended is simply too powerful. Negates too much other equipment entirely. Negates at least 4 other types equipment all costing about the same and sometimes weight more depending on the weapons loadout.

Anybody thinking ecm can exist in its current form with the effects it has on current equipment is not thinking about proper balance.
