Hi guys,
I´m rdgCaligula and I started playing MW:O a couple of weeks ago. I´m 29 years old and live in berlin, germany. I represent a multi gaming clan called Red Dragons Germany, checkout www.rdg-clan.eu. It´s mostly BF3 and GW2 players in there, but some other games are played too.

I really appreciate the game, 8v8 skirmishes are a lot of fun to me. Especially when playing with my brother or some clan members.

The first C-Bílls where spent in a terrible cicada (the one with 1 laser and 4 balistic slots) and I was a little bit depressed because the only thing i could do was to capture or scout enemies and of course run run run  It was a pretty rash decision, so after that I started reading some threads and the wiki, to get useful beginner information.

Now I bought a centurion CN9-A and I like my mech a lot. Many different loadouts are possible, so I can tryout some settings.

A terrible mistake I made was to upgrade the FFA and raise my repair costs. It is nearly double the amount I usually paid. I set it back to standard armor yesterday and everything is fine again.

I´m pretty new to the game and so I have some questions about weapon settings and stuff:

1. I saw a video from a centurion with a AC20 but I can´t put it into my right arm, because there are to few slots. Do other Centurions have more space available in the balistic arm?

2. XL engines seem to be a very nice upgrade, but they need more slots too, is there a list where i can check which engine fits which mech?

3. What weapon setting would you recommend for my centurion CN9-A? I like LRMs but I need to have some shortrange firepower. The lasers in the center torso are oftentimes useless against fast light mechs...

So, hope to see you on the battlegrounds :)
GL HF,
rdgCaligula

Welcome to MWO.

1. Centurion with A/C20 is the Yen-Lo-Wang hero mech which needs to be purchased with MC i.e. real money.

2. There is an excel spread sheet and also a java based application (may not be up to date) which allows you to play with different mechs and load outs so you can experiment to see what is workable. You can also check out Ohmwrecker's Quick Reference Sheets

3. The standard missile against lights was streak srms. However, with ECM being implemented in the latest patch, you may find that you are unable to use them unless you and the light are not in range of the enemy ECM. If you are good at aiming ballistic weapons, you might want to try srm6 instead. Otherwise, better to have 2 lasers than none at all :)

If you haven't, I recommend reading the stickies in the General Guides sub-forum

See you on the battlefield.

Edit: Forgot to mention that you should avoid Ferro-Fibrous, it is extremely expensive to repair. Just upgrade Endo-Steel and for lights & mediums, Double Heat Sinks.

Hey,
thanks for your tips, I will check that out soon (best place for such things is at work :) )!

I watched the video again () the type is Centurion CN9-AH. Is that the Yen-Lo, really? Thats a pity but AC10 + laser + SRM is fun too :D

The general forum includes some very useful information for me and I will continue reading it, to improve my play.

CU,
Caligula

Hey Caligula, CN9-AH was removed from the game during the release of the YLW, so the YLW is a CN9-AH but just has a different skin. It seemed like a weird choice but yes. I try to play regularly, feel free to pm me for a game. Good luck!

I have existed from the morning of the world and I shall exist until the last star falls from the night. Although I have taken the form of Gaius Caligula, I am all men as I am no man and therefore I am a God!
Welcome to MWO, your highness.

Hi, what made me stumble now is the fact that the guy in the video has 2x SSRM2, while YLW has no missle slots... hmm

:( Thanks, my prefered quote is "Let them hate me, so long as they fear me.". It fits every game!
