A practice map, with no real players, where a beginner can learn the controls, etc. would be a good addition to the game. A place that doesn't effect any stats. I'm intimidated to join a normal battle, when I just want to learn the basics, set-up my joystick, and such.

I was like you at first,...but i jumped in some games,...ya i got killed the first 5 times! lol But you learn as you go for now. I think its half the fun.

For some, like me, there's a longer MUCH longer learning curve that practice map would be a Godsend. Does anyone know when it'll be coming?

A training area would benefit new and experienced alike.
I'd rather not test atypical builds for the first time in a live match if I don't have to.
I have not come across anything that states when this feature will be implemented, but I am confident it will be.

It is something PGI wants to implement,
But it is not mentioned on the content/feature roadmap, so in the coming couple of months you won't see this back in the game.

It really does seem odd that while the game is in an extended testing phase, there isn't an area where players can ... test things.

Yes I am crying out for a testing area I got burned since my controls froze, I am using a i3 laptop with IGP at the moment until I get a rig together. I just wanted to stomp around get a handle on the controls set up mouse/joystick and the like it becomes pretty difficult to do that when someone's trying to frag your arse or should that be *** ;-)

I think you'll lose lower attention span people without it, I personally think it is a must but I expect that at the moment the beta is mainly for the more hardcore
