I think WWII-style pinups as noseart decals and posters for cockpit interiors would be great! Really adds to the lived-in wartime feel of the universe. I also had a good chuckle at the 'empty beer bottles and an ashtray' cockpit item suggestion. (But it only works if the bottles can fall over and start noisily rolling back and forth in the cockpit as you walk!) Almost like something you might see in a BattleTech sourcebook illustration, hah. (Well, maybe just a Solaris 7 or mercenary related one...)

While I'd prefer not to wade hip-deep into the gender debate, I have to say that every female I know who'd be inclined to pilot a giant walking death machine (And I know several.) would prefer the female pinups just from the standpoint of preserving that WWII-esque aesthetic. I think you're making it more of an issue than it actually is. But that's just my two cents, and a wooden nickel.

I'm for this. Alot of the WWII aircraft had them and the VW BattlePods had them as pins/patches at one point.

Fun fact about WW2 nose art. The majority if bathing suits and brassier depicted on the woman were put on when the bombers returned to airfields in England and the US. In theater clothing was optional.

Of course I also want my mech to shout at me in Russian. An angry Russian man. And perhaps a small klaxon lamp for a dash and/or windscreen ornament.

hell yes pin ups all the way, its one way to add personality to a cockpit. also if it looked anything like my "workspace" it would have empty cans of xxxx and energy drinks with a empty pizza boxes shoved under my seat.

Female mechwarriors are not pansies or feminine. They are hardened and deadly adversaries that would see it as an insult that someone would even suggest such a thing.

Way to be incredibly sexist and tell women what they should be thinking/feeling.

Anyhow, I'm completely for this idea as well. Having some nice pin-up peeps on our Mechs would really jazz things up.
While on the topic of Mech Customization, the Devs should allow for complete custom paintjobs a-la Ridge Racer (PS1). Paint up your mech, slap a pin-up chick on there and you're ready to go.

Way to assume female mechwarriors are driven by the same inane desires as male mechwarriors.

I think, an easy way to satisfy every wish of the pilots could be the implementation of a buyable cockpit picture frame, that shows the (.jpg) pictures of a disk drive folder (maybe the users could choose it in the ingame options or it is a preset folder in the MWO folder). The pictures are only visible for the player himself and doesn't get shared during a fight. Other players, that had been shot down only see a (nice) placeholder in the other cockpits.
