And they won't come with only one mech type, it will be at least 4 (one for every class) like the founders. So lets wait for the "surprise"
Why I have no idea what you are talking about. Of course they are going to release IS mechs every month forever what else could possible take up that slot. It makes me an angry kitty to think that something else my preempt the steady release of IS mechs.
I wouldn't expect to see any artwork for new mech announcements until early next year.

One thing that's missing is CW. With CW comes meaningful faction separation and in the lore, some mechs were more readily available to some factions while being almost unseen in others......
That will explain why there are different mechs with similar loadouts. I see the point of why bring in the Battlemaster when you already have the Awesome (laserboats). CW and mech availability would make it necessary (and let us have our mechs). Maybe PGI can't do it, but there are tons of different designs out there with similar mission profiles. Be a shame to not see the majority of them just because they have similar loadouts to mechs someone else has already deemed cooler..... IMHO

No the Battlemaster actually would make sense.
The archetypical variant would have (at least) 7 energy, 1 missile and 2 ballistic hardpoints! no current mech can compete with that. The stalker will have a total of at least 10 hardpoints too, but only energy/missile. No awesome variant has ballistic hardpoints either. The Highlander probably won't have 10 hardpoints; also it will maybe not be able to reach a Battlemaster's speed, as it would require a 360 engine to do that, and it's engine cap might be lower than that.
But forget it, it's unseen.

I think the devs stated before that 'Mechs would not be limited to specific factions, but equipment prices would vary between the factions.

Orion: Unmistakable early styling and charm
Orion: A big bleeping missile pod that takes up most of an arm
Orion: So badass it carries an AC10 on its belt
Orion: Take your complex curves and stick em. This is heavy plate metal.
Orion: Daddy K drove one, are you man enough?
Go Orion or Go Home!

TECHNICALLY the clans began their invasion of the Periphery in August 3049, with Phelan Kell being captured sometime mid December 3049 while hunting Kenny Ryan.
This is, of course, going by Stackpolian lore. . but it's the only lore I'm familiar with [having read the trilogy sometime in my late teens]
I'm only aware of this because I hadn't READ those books since my late teens, so I figured i'd dust them off to see if I could glean any hints to the next 6 months of content etc that PGI may turn out.
With conquest allegedly making an appearance on the 18th. . . who knows?

A very unrepresented cross section of mechs that has yet to be seen in Mechwarrior Online... While not the favorites of all players, they were the favorites of many, and these versatile mechs make up the bulk of the so-called 'work horses' of the Inner Sphere.
While the Centurion and Hunchie have charm, I find for me that anything medium that is as slow as a heavy is the setting's equivalent of a medium bargain basement attempt at a heavy. Not much incentive for me to want it. The Dragon is more of a medium in the roles it can fill adequately than the existing mediums, and it's a heavy.
There's the Cicada, but also not for me. Jump jets, baby! Jump jets! Even mostly lame ones such as they currenty exist in this game... My mechs feel wrong for me without them. At least if they have them, you can always choose to take them off. Not so the other way around...
More versatile support/escort/skirmisher mediums are sorely missing. I find myself waiting for a single variant of the Trebuchet that will supposedly have jump jets—and I don't even like that mech particularly much.
