I'd really like some method of knowing who and what is on my team before we drop. It'd also be cool to not know exactly where the other team is coming from. At present many of the maps play out in a pretty static manner - one game on frozen city is much like another, and set tactics happen because both teams are rushing from the same places to the same places.

I propose implementing a pre match start 'drop phase' working as follows.

Map loads as normal, player mechs are not spawned. Game does not start.

Maps are marked with a number of potential drop sites for each team. A drop ship model is to be spawned there (with player mechs inside) when it is used. Perhaps have say 3 or 4 drop sites per team.

Pre match, players can communicate with their team or globally, whilst 'in the drop ship'. During this phase UI should display player sub groups, and also identify their mech variant so some sort of sensible group build can be attained. Each drop ship can accommodate up to 4 mechs ( a single lance). Group leaders (first to select a drop ship) select a drop site for their group (of up to 4). Non-grouped players cannot select a dropship occupied by a pre made group, and must fill a ship before they can select another (so no one-man drops). Pre match phase lasts for say 60 seconds, or until all layers have marked themselves ready. If possible append (alpha) or (beta) to player names as displaed for friendless to identify which ship they're from.

Once this phase is over, the dropships are spawned (along with their contents) and the first thing the players see 'in game' is the inside of their drop ships.

The objective of the game is to find and destroy both enemy dropships before they get yours.

Being inside a destroyed Dropship should also inflict heavy damage to any contained mech. It should be unwise to AFK inside one.

Just an idea I thought might be cool. Probably needs pretty big maps, though.

Sounds pretty cool! could be a while before we see anything like this though, the devs are pretty busy as it is :/
