So I haven't played but a few matches since the last patch came out, and most of those were fooling around in my Jenner while testing out a new vid card for my newest system I'm in the process of building.

Tonight, I hopped in my Catapult that sports a pair of AC/20's for a little carnage, only to find my guns are firing no where near the aiming reticule for over 50% of the shots I tried to make while zoomed in.

I mean they are firing 1 - 3.3 meters over the pipper, and a full half of those shots criss-cross each other in flight about 30 meters out if you can imagine how far off target those rounds land. It's like my targeting system just went cross eyed when I zoom in...

For a Catapult w/ AC/20's, that is a death sentence. I may as well take a stroll through the battlefield w/ nothing more than my birthday suit and a baseball bat for all the good it'll do against other mechs. Accuracy is paramount due to lack of armor & long reload times, and now focusing in to hit their most vulnerable bits & pieces just ends up w/ my shots going wide as though trying to fire a pair of guns while wearing a I love me (straight) jacket most of the time.

Anyone have any idea what's going on with that? Experienced it?

Had it with one mounted gun weeks ago. Once only.

Might want to check the Known Issues pages, there's a poll there asking people if they're having this issue, because you are FAR from alone on this one.

EDIT Forgot to provide URL, as there is an absolute OCEAN of pages in there. The one linked here is your issue:

It's a known issue with convergence (not a glitch though). It is much worse with arm mounted weapons.

The reason this happens is that MWO has slow projectile speeds, thus forcing you to lead the shots on moving target. The convergence (where your ballistic firing lines cross) is calculated and your weapon mounts angled to the distance under reticle. If you pass a building at 30m distance from you and then take a shot at the distant target, the convergence is going to be anywhere near 30m or infinity. The weapons do not instantly adjust, but slowly and there is an elite skill improving that.

Consequence:
1. MWO requires you to lead with slow ballistic rounds ->
2. Reticle not on target, but on random terrain depth ->
3. You cannot lead, because you have a random firing angle to convergence.

Solution:
Add a manual convergence override to allow us to lock the guns at 250, 500, 1k, infinity and lead with a configuration we KNOW and can aim with reliably.

Thanks for the reply. :) I wish I could say that it only happened once, but it was every other shot for me last night.

Perfect, thank you very much! :D I took a cursory look after getting a little frustrated during gameplay, but it was very late, I was super tired, and didn't see that topic. Many thanks for the link. :(

Much appreciated for the reply. :) That's the thing, it's not a regular convergence issue. The convergence was in some cases 100's of meters before reaching where the mech I was targeting. Literally bracketing the mech w/ the outgoing rounds (think of the outgoing fire in an X pattern with the cross in the X between you and the OPFOR mech), & the target , and it for the most part, happened while zoomed in.

Not to mention, the shots were always much higher than the actual aim point when this occurred. While being a relatively new player to MWO (about 5 weeks I've been playing, although I've played MW since the very beginning), the Catapult in this config I've spent about 2 weeks in so far before this glitch. A bug that only started happening after the previous patch. I hope today's patch fixed the issue... We'll see.

Irl, I'm a competitive marksman w/ a preference for .45 ACP pistols. Similar problems w/ target lead & such due to slow heavy rounds, like the AC/20's. Adjusting for such comes pretty natural to me. :) In my pult, I'm a slow deliberate aim type in the heat of battle. Preferring to hit the least armored areas because of slow follow up shots. e.g.: Where the metal meet's the meat, in not so many words.

Thanks again for your input :)

I've been having an issue of late where I fire my lasers, and then they fire again before they completely cycle. Sounds awesome, but every time this happens, I lose the ability to deal damage, no matter how many times I core someone, and yet I can still be killed easily, I'm guessing it's a bug. Anyone know anything about this?

It's related to the large ping I beleive. At leas for me this happened often with ping bigger then 500 ms

Hmmm, I'll have to check my ping the next time it happens, but my ping is usually under 150 ms.

Just happened to me again, checked my ping this time, it was around 170 ms, still fairly low, considering the delay between input and shots fired.

Yeah, when that was happening to me, it wasn't lag from a super high ping either. I typically have a 60 ms ping, worst case scenario. Mostly around 48-52 ms usually. It's only happened once since the newest patch though. Idk, I'm at a loss as for what caused it.
