I haven't seen anything making ballistics or energy weapons useless. It does make the users sneakier, so you have to actually pay attention to your environment, rather than just listening for the radar 'blip' noise. It also nerfs the LRM/Streak boats in a useful manner.

Last night, I seriously peeved a 'covert' group that was trying to ECM sneak around our position by the simple act of waiting for them where I thought they would show-up, after I determined that the lone Awesome was a distraction. Killed 2 of 5, and might have gotten a 3rd if the Streak-Cat hadn't chewed me up.

you left out the following OP things:

Commandos, ravens, jenners, cicadas, hunchbacks, centurions, YLW, Dragons, Catapaults, cataphracts, IIya, Awesomes, Atlases, Teamwork, Lasers, Ballistics, capping, stomping, teams, 4mans, 8 mans, Devs, Pugs, Founders, QQing, P2W, and... peguins (that's right nerf those *******).

Hell the only thing not Op as far as i can tell is PPC's.

May have been said before and I apologize if it was said in this thread as honestly my eyes glaze over on whinefests. As far as I know you can make balanced build of any mech involving lock on and non lock weapons. Streak cats and Lrm boats just need to take on direct fire weapons. Not a lot. Say 1 or 2 SRM 4 packs. Maybe some lasers if you have the hard points. Then when the ECM is countered or neutralized then switch to lock on weapons and ready to rock. Probably why most standard mech load outs are diverse with long and medium ranged weapons.

Just a thought. I'm a firm believer in fixing a problem and adapting then crying foul.

Yes thank you PGI, for making the streak / LRM bukkake parties go away. Or at least require someone with skill to help execute. Is ECM being overused? Yes. Will it be overused from now on? No. ECM needs some tweaks, like it shouldn't block NARC since NARC already sucks enough. However for first run implementation it's pretty well balanced. I think we will continue to see lots of ECM in PUGs, but in eight mans I doubt you'll see more than three to a side and more often than not two to a side by years end. Why? Because of the rule of diminishing returns. ECM is what the pentagon likes to call a force multiplier: you can get more done with less. However fielding entire teams of ECM mechs will just force your enemies to rely on direct fire weapons. Thereby putting you at a disadvantage by carrying dead tonnage that could be applied to weapons.

I swear some people.

I own zero ECM mechs. I'm still doing fine, even in the 8v8 drops. You must have ECM on your team which I think we expected, but individual non-ECM mechs still do just fine.

We had a team, uh, "touch us in a bad way" with LRM's and TAG the other night, so LRM's and Streaks have *gasp* become skill based weapons. Love it.

I think they will adjust some things, but I think overall ECM has changed the game in a good way. Even if, right now, my poor Centurions and Hunchbacks are on mothballs and I had to buy an Ilya despite my misgivings on the price in order to have an effective mech in the current dynamics.

I haven't used ecm yet and I'm still consistently in the top 1 and 2. in score. the worst thing pgi has done that I can see is to have grouped together the biggest whiners I have ever seen. the game is still beta of you haven't realized..

I use mainly just a dragon and do just fine.

Learn how to play before you come to a public forum and cry about your inability to grasp what the concept of skill and teamwork is.

I agree with the whole trial mech thing. I've even posted it in other threads, as well as many others have. I can forgive you as we all can't catch everything in the forums( thank god ).

In a team oriented game, a stock/custom long range support should need some shorter range support to help them out. Teammates working together to achieve a common goal.

So wait, hes lazy because people use skillless passive items not make his skillless active weapons invalid?

I never said I was unable to fight I said playing with ECM makes the game into a piece of **** everyday shooter. I can still do good, it doesn't mean I still enjoy playing.

If MWO leaves ECM in game in its current implementation--I have no issues leaving the game. There are lots of everyday shooters out there that are better than this game.

What happens when the OP realizes that the devs are looking to add an EMP element to the PPC's and his precious HUD gets scrambled after getting hit by it.

It has not been nerfed. You now need someone to help you with Tag and counter ECM. So what you got here is a lot of tears from players that usually stood at the 1k mark and pushed 1 while the rest of the team went out and allowed them to do stuff. They are upset they now are forced to play and have had no chance to learn how. They will figure it out and life will go on, the game will be better for it. Their stuff still works, it's just not OP broken and they are now forced to play instead of forcing the rest of us to play to counter them.

I think people will cry with any change. They will also cry if there is no change. I like the ECM changes. I have no mechs with ECM, and I do just fine.
