the mechlab is as buggy as a summer night in a Georgia swamp, be patient, but, the restart the game trick, USUALLY reveals what you actually did do, usually.

If you lost any items that you bought and equipped, you will find them available in the mech bay. The number in the upper right in the mech bay shows how many you have in storage.

For me the mech bay bugs out 95% of the time when I purchase new equipment. It's been like this for several patches. What I do now when changing loadouts is this:
- play around with the loadout until it's the way I want it (tonnage, hs, weapon selection, ...)
- remove everything I need to buy so the C-bill cost is zero
- save
- start another loadout session
- reapply everything I removed
- save
here the game usually bugs out. Most of the time it's a soft lock so I just restart the game. Once restarted all the stuff I purchased is in my inventory. Once reapplied again the changes stick.

It does it when you mix bought gear with stuff you had in storage in the same session.
[example[
Say you strip off a Medium laser, and then buy 2x small lasers to replace it, then hit Save.
Mechlab won't bug.
Then, you remove another Medium laser, and replace it with a Heatsink that you've got in storage, & hit save.
The mechlab won't bug.
But if you replace the med-laser with 2x bought smalls, and then replace the other one with the HS you had in storage at the same time - without saving in-between, then it will bug - Every time.
The issue is when you add bought gear and add gear from storage without hitting Save in-between.
This applies to everything bought, inc points of armour.
When you have to re-log in and go into the mechlab for the second time, you'll find all the stuff you had bought is now in storage; so when you add it all back on to the mech, since you have not mixed bought gear and stored gear, the mechlab doesn't bug the second time.
Make sense? Phew.
Let's hope it gets fixed soon, because even understanding the bug & being able to reproduce it at will, I still forget sometimes and have to re-log.. :/
