Since I have the feeling most people here would have more knowledge of the game that the main forum, I'm just gonna put it here. I'm having so much worries with ammo explosions that I don't even dare to put ammo anywhere other that legs....

What Ammo Explodes?

All ammo with the exception of gauss rifle ammo can explode. The tradeoff for this is that the gauss rifle weapon itself can explode.
If you have room for it, you can equip a C.A.S.E (cellular ammo storage equipment) to the location your ammo is stored in. Using one means that if your ammo does explode, it will only damage the location the ammo is in and will prevent it from spreading to the rest of your mech.
I personally don't worry about it too much, it happens from time to time, not all the time.

As said before all ammunition except gauss ammunition exploded.
MG ammo has horrific explosions, surprising since the MG itself is so weak. Missile ammo also has extremely damaging explosions, except you dump it faster.
In the TT it seems that 1t of MG ammo will explode for 2k (2 x 1000), likely enough to core a mech.
TT MG ammo had 200 rounds per ton, so that would be 400 points of damage.

It may interest you to know that there is an order for ammo consumption starting with the head and ending in the legs. Therefore you may want to consider putting especially dangerous ammo in your head rather than your legs so that it gets used more quickly.
