Why You Want Mech Warrior Online to be F2P
orly? So you won't pull cheap tricks to drain away MC? Sweet.

Whoops! Guess we can't even wait for launch to start doing that!
Let's waste players real money DURING BETA!!!

This game has tremendous potential but the allure of F2P cheap-tricks is going to destroy it.

The camo spec thing is a problem that could be solved if they allowed savable camo specs once purchased. Many people wouldn't feel as gouged.

How the **** does something you don't even see unless you are dead affect your gameplay experience? Cosmetics are almost always real money cost or expensive as hell in in-game currency. Just look at tf2.

it's about something else, not about gameplay experience.
It's rip off.

Then don't buy it, most likely the only time you will ever see it outside of mechlab is when your on the ground flailing from a knockdown(when re-implemented) or when you're already dead. There is no p2w aspect of this at all, it is pure cosmetics, nothing else.

i didn't ever say i am buying it, nor did i ever say it's pay2win...

I WOULD consider buying some of this stuff, if i would UNLOCK it, not 'buy' it, and i've i want to use another one for some time, i have to REBUY it. That's the rip off here, no idea where you saw anything about pay2win in relation with this

Slippy-Slope? is that one of those water toys you slide on in your front yard?

It's nice to know that I can't even customize my mech with a few basic colors unless I pay real money for it. It's like the developers want people to hate their game.

Dude, look at the "basic colors" section...

I agree that it needs changing, but this sensationalism is ridiculous. The forums these days are getting as hard to listen to these days as reality tv or the news. Hell, people are already crying about how ECM Suites broke the game so much I thought they must have been implemented already! Nope. Chuck Testa. >cough< I mean to say it's not coming out until the 4th of next month.
Yes, like I said, I agree with your point of view, we need more basic colors and not just lavender and a couple of others, but things people will actually use. However the silly, over-the-top, doom-saying isn't going to help people take these points seriously. Hell, of course it's a rip-off! Cosmetics in all F2P online games are rip-offs! That's how they make their money and pay their employees. They just need to be reasonable about ripping us off. :P

I could care less about coloring my mech. It all looks like dirt smears of various earthen pigments to me anyway.

*below the sky-high minimum specs*

This is an issue for me, as I DO care about painting my mech. Call it vanity if you will, but I'm not alone. The prices on colors and patterns are, in my opinion, fair...if they are unlocked permanently. Even charging me Cbills for a re-spray would be fine. Asking me to open my wallet twice for the same option is not.

You could try buying a PC that isn't 6 years old... because that's what the "sky high" minimum specs are.

You could offer a permanently disabled Pennsyltuckyan who lives fifteen miles from town and can't afford to own a car, a job...so they could pay off their genetic-malformity medical debts... then maybe consider an upgrade from the GT220/4GB DDR2@667/Core2Duo@2.33 that they certainly /love/ only gaming three-year-old-or-further-back games on minimum graphics on.

And yes, my Leviathan was infact bought in 2007, beyond state of the art back then (some parts have gone sour and been replaced with lesser grade handmedowns)

Let's leave personal out-of-game insults out of this, aff? I don't play the pity card because I don't deserve it, but rightly faff off from assuming you have any clue to someone's situation.

(For the record I bought my Legendary pack in June, when I was making 35$/hr, a job I since lost due to circumstances including but not limited to the epic ******* hurricane last month)

There's a reason why they call the slippery slope argument a logical fallacy you know.

Also, they did just give the founders free premium time, then just reset our time and allowed us to choose when we want to use it.

That's not a move that a company that is solely out to steal money from you does. Mind you, PGI and its backers do want out money, but they'll have to earn it.

Honestly, it's barely a month of Open Beta, like any online game, especially F2P games, it will drastically mature over time. PGI's smart enough to keep track of things and refund purchases where necessary.

I have faith the game will get better. I'm still on a knife's edge over whether it's going to get better in the direction that I want it to.

This can simply be solved by making all colors, decals, and camo schemes, and vanity items purchasable and reusable.

It will still make JUST as much money if the devs release 30+ new paint colors and 10+ new camo schemes per week.

Of course it could be. They made the deliberate decision to not implement it that way.
