It has nothing to do with only one side having access to those things.

It has everything to do with the fact that if those things are "the best" then both sides are going to use those things, to the exclusion of everything else.

Thus making it so only X chassis with Y weapons and Z equipment gets used. Everything else falls to the wayside.

As for the dollar analogy it's more like saying that the person with the dollar in their pocket is forcing me to use the dollar I have in my pocket instead of the change I want to use instead.

That's not the point, however. The point is people registering complaints BECAUSE of a wide variety of things. If everyone is under the same onus what value is there to complain about it? It's like complaining that the ellipse of a college football needs to be reduced. It doesn't change the fact that every college team either wins or loses. The teams that win, win for a reason.

Whining about things in the game is like saying.. OMG we would have won if the football would have been a different size, we should whine to whoever wants to listen to try to get the football resized, and then we will do better, and obtw we won't play anymore until they change the size of the football."
Dude.. man up and throw the damn ball

The thing you're glossing over is that these type of games have Flavor of the Month builds. A piece of equipment/chassis/etc gets introduced that is superior to any other piece of equipment/chassis/etc that that's all that gets used. Until the developers come along and nerf/adjust that piece of equipment/chassis/etc and something new rises to take it's place...

And this is a tactic that the F2P game companies use to drive sales. Buff X so everyone gets X. When X has saturated population Counter X with Y. Now everyone buys Y. Rinse, repeat, count your money.

I don't think that the PGI guys are thinking that far ahead

And you seem to not understand the point of contention to begin with.

I can understand not wanting people to complain and "man up and throw the ball". And if there was just one ball, not even just one type of ball but just a ball then there would be no issue.

The reason that people are complaining is that they feel that their choices are being taken away from them do to the superiority, perceived or not, of certain types of items. Of course everyone has access to all the same equipment. The thing is, the people that are complaining want the ability to chose what type of equipment they use.

Not have it chosen for them due to it being FOTM.

What you're basically saying is that everyone should ignore 90% of all the mechs, weapons and components in MWO and just use the FOTM build.

If that is truly PGI intent, then why did they go through all the trouble to create what they did when they should've just spent all the time on one mech, one or two weapon systems and a smattering of components and called it done?
