I'd be all over this. So what if I lose, I'm more worried about winning.
As for splitting up salvage, what about you get what you kill? When it comes to situations like where it's 3 on 1 against the last mech of the losing team, luck of the kill shot decides salvage.

Hardcore/Winner takes all matches

I don't see this happening. I mean, I get why some people like it. Some people love playing Diablo on hardcore, and have 6 lv 99 characters to prove it. Problem is, this game's all pvp. Can you imagine all the [redacted] PGI will have to deal with from all those folks who lost their ride? Have you ever watched Pinks All Out? PGI won't want to deal with that. Too much negativity. Of course, maybe I being pessimistic. Has anyone who played D1 or D2 hardcore seen/experienced pvp death on hardcore? Do those type of players take it well? I just don't imagine they would. Probably because I would take it hard, which is why I never touched hardcore mode on Diablo. I enjoy a stress free gaming experience.
[Edit] Of course, now that I think about it, MWO will be different than something like Diablo, since you can just use any c-bills to get a complete new ride, with all the gear you lost (provided you have the money). In that respect, raging probably won't be too bad, as long as there's no perma pilot death.

For Solaris free-for-all i think it would be fun if the winner would have first choice of all mechs destroyed, second place second choice and so on and the poor guy who gets last just gets his contract rates and no mech if everyone before him picked one out.

(Note: The following assumes we will be able to buy C-Bills, equipment, Mechs, et al with real money.)
Due to Online Gambling rules the only way to make this work is to not allow anything that can be lost able to be bought or replaced with real money. Doing so allows the do-gooders, lawyers and bureaucrats to deem it a form of gambling and ban it from being played in the US (if not other countries such as South Korea).
The way around this would be to have it a Solaris 7 only event and nothing can be bought with real money; All parts, pieces, whole Mechs, etc can only be acquired with... oh, let's call them "se7ens". Se7ens would only be earned in arena matches. Any equipment or Mechs sold to the Solaris dealership would be paid out in se7ens. Solaris equipment and Mechs would have a special identifier ("S7"), restricted to the player's S7 warehouse, not transferable to the player's "real" Mech warehouse. All other attendant restrictions inferred and implied.
Not a good option, is it? But we got exactly what we voted for.
