I am not sure how the hero mechs fit into the scheme of things (since I do not have one).
They may be their own variant which I would suspect.

If you go to your pilot lab you should be able to see if the Hero mech is listed there as a variant, which should clear things up a bit.

It shows up but it dos not show as one of the 3 that is needed to go beyond Basic as far as i can tell :P
Thats why I am trying to Confirm it on the forum.

There was out-cry when the Yen-Lo was introduced because there was not a 3rd varient available of the Centurian at the time. People made the Pay-2-Win argument because in order to unlock elite you had to buy the Yen-Lo.

Previously in closed beta the Founders counted as a seperate variant to achieve elite unlock without actually listing it as on of the three.

So no, you should not need to buy a thrid standard 'Mech to unlock elite.

The thing is since you need 2 others besides the hero anyway, once you basic all those you'll know one way or the other.

Unless things changed, Hero mechs count as one of your three for Basic to Elite.

In my pilotlab, Muromets is in the list of applicable Cataphracts like any other model. Exactly the same way the Founder Hunch used to be until they just combined all 4G's into one heading.

The hero mech is just another variatn of Cataphtrac for XP purpose. You need him and other 2 leveled to go over basic.

NO

I Have the YLW and only needed to buy 2 other Cent's to master the YLW.

The Yen-Lo-Wang & Ilya Muromets are variants of their type and you need 3 variants of any type to master any mech. But you will only be master in the types you used.
