There is a little thing called seperation of church and mechwarrior. Keep your church stuff in church. Mechwarrior does not need it.

I say bring in all religions. Just think of the mech variants we could buy? The Avenging Angel o' Death, Lox on Wheels, Candles of Kinara, Vajras of Impalement

PGI has already answered this before in the locked thread:

Start Quote:
"Regarding Holidays:

We love celebrating! As Canadian-based companies, PGI and IGP value the diversity of our multicultural user-base and employees. We thought it would be fun to start adding holiday items into MechWarrior Online, and we're delighted that it has been so well-received.

On that note, many of our players have requested Hanukkah-specific or other holiday-specific cockpit items. For now, we do have some general holiday items (such as presents, snowman, etc.) and some X-Mas specific items. We're brainstorming future events, and we definitely would like to include a more expansive variation of in-game items for celebrations, including those that occur internationally.

In addition to Hanukkah items, here are some of the most-suggested holidays:
  • Chinese New Year
  • Valentine's Day
  • Easter
  • Solstice
  • Etc...
One person even suggested Velociraptor Awareness Day,which could be fun! The point being, we've only just started with our holiday-themed items/events. We mean no disrespect to those who are not currently represented, and we're going to be celebrating more holidays soon. " End Quote

Please stop posting these pointles threads that cause nothing but offence.

In the future there is only one true god.

Duh!

There is only one God, and :tenbux: is his Profit.

Dumb jokes aside, I don't begrudge PGI their Christmas swag. They didn't really have the infrastructure for the Camo Spec stuff up till recently, and the Christmas Solstice is a good time to release some items to both test the Camo Spec system, and maybe scrape in a few more dollars. I'd ask that they shy away from Easter though, as even as commercialized as it is, it's very much a Christian holiday. It'd be less of an issue if they hit the other major holidays of major religions though.

I'm no Goon but i'd love to see a Tetatae bobblehead. But yeah better to stear clear of religious symbols in general. Unless they are in game/universe ones like the Word of Blake and Comstar

Christmas is a religious holiday but no religious icons are represented, those are all either folk lore or commercialized items being presented to celebrate the holiday. Now if items that are not religious icons in the Jewish holiday are presented in the next round of items I'm all for it. Otherwise I'm sure you'll be getting a bunch of Christians screaming foul.

what part of "there is no Santa in the bible, but he still represents christmas, which we already established as a religious holiday." did you not get?

Christmas is a religious holiday.

Pretty much every holiday item they added is related to Christmas.

See where I'm going with this?

Christmas was originally a PAGAN winter festival co-opted by the Catholic church during the expansion of christianity across europe as part of a campaign to adopt local customs in order to make conversion easier. The birth of one jesus was attributed to it when it was co-opted (the birth of the person believed to be jesus is actually considered to be in the spring sometime).

Christmas has become a SECULAR orgy of consumerism and greed veiled in a a veneer of christian values to make it more palatable to people. It wasn't even a major holiday on the scale it is today until the marketing gurus got a hold of in early last century.

The Christmas Items are all of secular or pagan origin (specifically the tree which was part of the original celtic pagan winter festival) only one is tangentially related to Christianity which is the wreath which has some vague religious connotation but is derived from the same pagan tree thing.

So yeah... no one's religiosity is being left out unless you consider that every ones religiosity is being ignored, which is as it should be in a video game about Giant Robots in the future.
