why the 4M cbill difference between the 7K, and 7D? The 7D has more hardpoint, heat eff., and firepower

The As7-K comes with an XL engine by default.

different stuff on them costs different amounts, its pretty simple.

yes, but the xl engine costs more to repair, and the speeds are the same

ok, lets make this really simple, look at the equipment screen in the mech bay, compare the cost of a same size standard and xl engine...

exactly, and while it might not be a good engine in the atlas you can swap that engine out into a jenner or catapult and both those mechs work quite well with the 300xl.

All mech costs are based on the cost of equipment inside the mech (the K also has an AMS standard, gauss rifle, etc which all inflate the cost).
