Ok, I have 2 patches that I have missed due to work and stuff.
When I attempt to press the patch button (just after I start the game up where the ads are) the first patch downloads, and then goes to the "patching" stage.
Where 47 seconds later (yes, I timed it) the thing just closes mid patch, meaning I do the whole thing again.
Rather frustrating. Any ideas?
I Can't Patch The Game.

Try turning off windows defender if you have that, it's been known to cause problems with the patcher, at least the "Real-Time Protection" does I think.

I'm getting the same problem as well, and turning of Windows Defender hasn't helped.
Computer did restart in the middle of patching the first time though, so I think it's because it's missing something from the patch. I think getting it to redownload the patch from the begining would help, but I don't know how.

Pretty sure this wasn't the answer the OP was hoping to hear, but after reinstalling, the patcher worked fine, and I was able to properly update MWO.

yea, i had that too. Patching stop at the mid each time i tried. i fixed it.
the harddrive where windows is installed needed more free Megabytes and then it worked. i guess the patch is first downloaded to some kind of temporary folder (which needs to be big enough) and then its copied to the folder where MWO is installed.
i deleted some useless films and then the Patch worked for me.
just try that, maybe it works for you too.

The patcher times out after 1 min every time I try to patch. I deleted the whole game and tried to re download it from scatch but it still happens. very frustrating

The problem may be because you deleted the old MWO files but you didn't delete the old registry files. Make sure when try and reinstall you clean up your registry with a registry cleaner like CCleaner.

Problem: Patcher starts patching, then closes itself.
Solution: remove files: game_version.dll___old from the Bin32 folder; all of the *.pak___old files from the Game folder
The patcher apparently tried to modify these ___old files, but they were read-only so the patching failed. Evidence found in Bin32\PatcherLogs\ingame_patcher_log.txt file ("access denied" line with the file path and name)
Remove only the files with the ___old extension!

Thanks for your reply.
The first time I downloaded MWO it would time out after a few minutes and I would have to use the task manager to close the MWOpatcher process. I did this every five minutes and restarted the patcher for another 5mins until the game was downloaded. You can imagine how annoying that was...I'm not doing that again.
So the problem was there before I deleted anything.
If the patcher would only try to reconnect when it times out it would get there eventually. But it don't. It gives me a connection timed out msg after 5 min and asks if I want to try again. If I click yes it simply closes the patcher.
