HAS anyone else noticed that TAG isn't working as good as you would think vs ECM. I have to be within 120 M for TAG to work vs an ECM target, isntead of TAG being the coutner to ECM

Haven't really noticed, but it's been hard to tell so far. Chaotic is a good word right now...

I have had NO problems with my TAG.

To use the TAG effectively you MUST be between 185m-450m away from your target that is using the ECM. If you are 180m or closer to the target then their ECM can disrupt the TAG. I have never had a problem when using a TAG from 185m + away but as soon as I got within the 180m ECM range it usually gets disrupted.

You can tag thats right, but u and anyone else CANT target the enemy you taged. Thus your tag is meaningless. There has to be someone in the reduced target range. Hence theres no real benefit from tag into ecm.
I allways see just the empty red triangle when i tag into the ecm and punching R-key wont do anything.

The way I read the patch notes there has to be a range benefit from tag to counter ecm.

Please lovely devs, I just want to do a little tag to the ecm mech and scare him by my lrm friends. I promise that i dont dazzle little children.

TAGing a ecm mech should allow anyone not in its 180mm ecm range that has LOS to target it but not be able to relay that to mechs that do not have line of sight.
I think the targeting systems in mechs would easily be able to track a IR painted target through optical means since ECM cannot jam light waves.

Nope, nope and nope.

The Tagged mech becomes lockable with missiles by everyone on your team including your own mech. I have tagged an enemy Atlas that has an ECM equipped and the tag has overwritten his ECM cover and allowed people to shoot it. People should be tagging the ECM mechs FIRST and not the random mechs that don't have ECM's equipped. Take the ECM mech out and the ECM coverage is removed.

You have to Tag from OUTSIDE the 180m range of the ECM to get it to work properly. Tagging from inside the 180m range of the ECM doesn't always work.

This method has worked many times for me

No discussion about this. Thats my premiss too.

The question is: Is there a different behavior of locking with tag into ecm? Usually (without ecm on field) ive to target the enemy and than i get a locking.
But i cant target the enemy ive taged in ecm, really. No filled triangle, just the empty one.

If it should behave not specially there is maybe an intermittent bug with the targeting.
I will test this again several times.

Edit:

Testing successful!
(the time this bug occured for me was before hotfix. I guess it has been fixed)

Its right, now you can target and lock on enemies with assistance of your tag.
shooting streaks into ecm is difficult but not impossible! (try to stay over 180 meters against commando^^)

nice!

A problem that I have had is this.
Tag an enemy mech that is in ECM umbrella.  Tested from many ranges with SSRM and LRM.
Lock onto enemy mech that is still in ECM, but now tagged.
SSRM's or LRM's will not fire at tagged enemy mech even after lock on is acquired and enemy mech is still tagged.
This does not always happen, but it is annoying when it does.

Please move discussion regarding TAG and ECM interplay to the ECM feedback thread. Thanks.
