The Fall Of 8V8

this was to get like wht catagory mechs matched up and not having all assualt 8v8 match's turning mwo online into mmo mw4!
as in jees in mw4 if you wasnt in an assualt you was nothing but fodder!
well guess what 8v8 is now back to being a"paintrain"all over agian and the devs said "we will keep all mech roles viable as teamwork is the heart of our game.
well only ""roles for any non assualt mech" is ecm carrier or just cannon fodder!!
soo do's any one else SEE the majer letdown here ???
lts or med mechs if thay aint a cicada or commando there fodder!
hay i got a heavy no prob! rite?
wrong if you aint got that heavy parked up the backside of a ddc atlas or "other" ecm mounted mech your deadmeat!
soo just ware do's the balenced role warfare fit in here as i cant see it thru the mass of assualt mechs w/ecm hiding them???
in what universe do's electronic countermeasures stop a laser designater?
i didnt know that an ecm suite could make emp blasts too!
[as short of a laser designater being hit by an emp burst would"anything" stop the lazing oh ya dense smoke layer too but hay ecm makes smoke screens too??!!!!!]
by the canon rules tag is the only nemesis to ecm other then counter jamming w/another ecm unit!!
for days now i've been doing mixed wht 8v8 drops and in 90% of all battles its a steamrolling from all/mostly assualt meched units!
as in 1 or 2 non assualts that have ecm equipedd or just ""all assualts""!!
theres no balence for the chassis role warfare involved !
soo is the"meta game" going to be played as mw4 online or is there going to be any rolewarfare at all?
several days of playing down and all i see is another mw4 game here!
if i wanted to"play mw4" i wouldnt have spent the past 5 months beta testing mwo online i'd just get a free download of mw4 and fire the server up!
mind you i paid money to beta test an mwo game not mw4!
soo 5 months of beta testing and asurences that all wht catory's would be viable for role warfare and this is what it comes down to?!
mite as well thow in those pay to win perks in too while your at it as you promised mwo wouldnt be a ""pay to win"game either!
and one's just as much a"deal" breaker as the other!
well its not the money its the 5 months of effert to get mwo going not mw4 that gets me the most, feeling more then a little betraid here!
oh well this is now a rant guess il stop and see what others think as well!

I was under the impression that the right coast had better schools than the rest of the US. Apparently I was wrong in my assumption.
I'm not sure what you mean by that but I'm cross-eyed now from the first post so as far as I know you're discussing cats.

Setting up a dedicated Fire Support Mech means building a mech that rarely gets to party.
And I swear I've seen more base caps by a group of four Assault Mechs lately. Maybe the Lyran's have joined MWO?
However, in the very second game of MechWarrior Online I play (And I was in the CLOSED beta) I realized that you are likely going to die nearly every round. Even if you give in an buy Assault. In that respect it is a lot like Counter-Strike. The reason comes more from getting matched against groups than anything else. If just two people on the other team are coordinating, that team is going to have an easier time.
Learning this, I came to a second realization. Just because I die, doesn't mean I'm not useful for my team to secure victory. While I don't get to use my Founder's Catapult very often, I do get in and go some damage. I pilot a pair of Hunchbacks, stock engines, tweaked weapons. I don't use ECM or BAP or NARC or TAG. I die a lot, often times I end up going out first. But I make sure that my loss isn't for naught. I don't suicide, and I'm not farming. But if I can get two heavies or an assualt to chase me around a bit, and use up some of his precious ammo taking me out, then I proved a valuable distraction, and now there is less of that ammo to be lobbed at a team mate.
The Atlas teams can be countered by having some coordinated Hunchbacks just circle them and wail on them with ACs or SRMs. Focus fire can bring an Atlas down in seconds.
What breaks the game are people farming C-Bills. If these people would work with their team, they can achieve VICTORY in less time than it takes for their team to get defeated.
Also, they need some kind of mid-match launch system. I was in a game the other day where it was four (my team) PUGs VS 8. And the full team was grouped up. Basically, because of disconnects and a general lack of a ranking system of any sort, MWO handed that team a victory. They might as well have just given them 170,000 c-bills and told them to come back in five minutes.
In closing, Tell you friends to start playing MWO. Get more people in, so PGI can justify a proper matching system. Get connected with Voice Chat to some people. Coordinate. Stop launching a game, and running directly for the enemy base.
And as a special note to this poster: PLEASE use proper grammar. I only read through your post because I care. You can't make your point if people can't understand what you are trying to say.

Anyway, from a PUGer, I have to say I really like the new 8v8 patch. Our PUG matches have been much more interesting, not as many premade stomps and can't remember the last match that had an AFK or suicider. Maybe I'm just getting lucky?

just a thought no getting at you logic type of post here but have you witnessed or been involved in this tactic against a huddled mass of four or more atlas? it's fine to get 3-5 meds circling 1 atlas whilst perhaps another atlas can't do much to help but those mass atlas groups usually sport ac20's, never stray from eachother and as such rip all the meds so badly that they're crippled by the time they move on to atlas number 2. is that what happens or can you move fast enough to show the atlas gang they can't shoot and die. i'd like to believe so X)

no the play has kinda improved but too many are relying upon the tactics best suited for ecm. i'd say yay for the 8v8 pug mode split but ecm killed the gameplay variety T_T

But the dedicated 8v8 is exactly as the orginal poster said. Its a CAP rush slug fest 4 DDC Atlas ECM with some heavy DPS in a CAT or Catarpharat, NO MEDIUM MECHS, and only two ECM scouts..preferably the raven. All Laser/Ballstic or DUMB SRM. Its the mechanics brought down into a nutshell for the best farming method.
TAG Should not be effected by ECM nor be plagued by range....its a laser...sorry even in the 20th century lasers guiding dumb bombs by Pathfinder etc been happening since the end of the vietnam war, THERE IS NO COUNTER...and here we are in the 3000 AD? seriously? Get with it pgi

yeah i hear what you're saying but it feels like we had 5 tatctics everyone would play before which was a bit of the same all the time but factoring 1 game mode and repeated maps some different plays happened and it was cool. now i think anyone who finds an ecm automatically targets it scurries under it and a brawl ensues. i've taken advantage of that mindset and walked all over the map to win cap without being opposed once. never would've happened before someone would have seen me and said hey a loner gang him. sorry but the last couple of days has said to me there are few tactics and gameplay is boring and predictable. i pray for matches where their are no ecms so i know the players might actually have to think about what they'll do to win. that's my experience of this gadget on the battlefield no harm in itself but it's perveted the mindset of players like hell!
