Horrible Fps On High End System?

I run battlefield 3 on msotly high in 64 play games with destructible environments generally at 60-80 fps...
In MWO I get like, 20-35 on high (shadows low) then change it to medium and low, and nothing changes.
6 core processor, 6950 2 gb, run all other games no problem.

In closed beta I was getting 40fps with a GTX275 (4 year old video card) in my 3.4Ghz quad core (AMD965BE)
A patch caused that to become almost unplayable unless I dropped all the settings, so I finally upgraded to a new card (It was time anyway, this wasn't the only game I wanted better FPS in) - got a GTX670. 60FPS. Still bad compared to every other game I own, but ... who cares, right? 60FPS is fine.
Last 2 patches? Now my GTX670 can only get 40FPS (at best, it's prob more like 35FPS on average).
It's ... pretty pathetic. Every other game I own I can rock at 60 - 100 FPS.

Not on our end. It's on PGIs end.
I can crank Crysis 2 at 45 FPS on Extreme settings. (which make this game look like a mid existence Playstation 2 game by comparison) and only get about 25 FPS out of this one in combat. Funny thing is, adjusting my settings in MWO does nothing to really affect my FPS.
It's not our gaming rigs, (which are well beyond Overkill for this games recommended specs) it's their crap optimization.

ITS BETA!! Devs gotta eat too. Are your drivers up to date? Have you tried defragging? Upgrade your PC, its 2012 you can't play this on ur gateway2000!

Yep I can confirm similar outcome from my system.
Core i5 2nd gen CPU
16 gig RAM
GTX 660 vid card with 2gig vid RAM
Windows 7 (64 bit)
up to date drivers and direct X
Pre open beta I saw 60+ fps
Currently 50-30 with mid 40s being average (River city being the exception with 30ish average)
I routinely experience a small degradation in FPS after a patch with each patch losing me 2-5 fps.
NO changes in vid settings in game alter performance in any meaningful/noticable manner.

Yes, this released game that is trying to draw new players to sell things to is ... Beta. And every patch they make it so fewer people can play it.
I swear when they shut the servers off for this game, there's going to be a group of people saying, "But ... but ... it was beta!"

I made a quite similar experience with my GTX 670. Back in closed beta i had up to 80 fps, now averaging 35 fps with constant drops to 10-15. Drivers are up tp date, os is Win7 64bit running on an i7 920, 6GB RAM, X-Fi Titanium, said 670 GTX and installed on a SSD. Everything else runs fast and smooth like hell, MWO gets worse woth every patch...

Dev Matthrew Craig has posted over here: http://mwomercs.com/...ormance-update/
Should help with some of the FPS drop hopefully, I have even noticed a bit and I got a decent high-mid to low-high end system. That being said, I record a lot of gameplay so I often play in locked 30FPS.

For me start the client...
Game1: 30fps
Game2: 20fps
Game3: 15fps
Game4: 8-10fps
Game5: Locked at 4fps/crash/blackscreen
Restart client
Repeat.
This happens like clockwork.
When I first started playing in CB I crashed every other game so overtime with each patch I get an extra game outta the client.
HOW?!

I don't like your post because I just bought a new computer with same CPU and a gf680. It hasn't arrived yet but I'll be damned if I'm not clocking 200 fps on MWO. There will be some computer parts flying...

Got some bad news for you.It will likely get identical performance since it appears the CPU is the bottleneck not the Graphics card.
However I doubt this will be the final product and we should start to see optimizations applied soon.My computer (and yours) are well above the listed recomended hardware requirements so it is mandatory that MWo perform well on these machines.

To answer the OP, yes a re-install often solves these issues.
