A few friends of mine have had their FPS drop after each patch. In response, we have tried several things in order to see if it would reset the FPS in-game, such as alt+tabbing out and coming back in, lowering the graphics, etc etc. None seemed to really work.

BUT one friend had his drop from 40 to 28-29 after this recent patch, so he uninstalled the client and then reinstalled it. As of now his FPS went back up to 40.

Just spreading the possible fixes for people VIA Forums. Hope it works for some of you.

To my knowledge, Alt-Tabbing out/in of a game is usually very bad for just about any game.

With FPS being heavily reliant on what is on screen at the moment, seeing a 25% drop/increase sounds on par with looking at the environment vs. being in a multi-player brawl. When more polys on are screen, you're just gonna get that drop.

Also..BETA BETA BETA! I think PGI are still working on optimizations; seems each patch fixes/hurts people at random intervals. People with beast machines, at times, get really poor FPS.

This is quite interesting, I'll have to give it a try. I too have not been able to play any matches over 30 frames, but fortunately I have not seen the 4 fps bug myself yet this patch (although I do know others who still experience it).

Also, I'm quite sure PGI is still looking for performance feedback on those who do a full reinstall of their clients. Be sure to send in tickets/emails to give them more feedback.

I reinstalled, did not work for me. The weird part is my matches start at 60 FPS, even with teammates on my screen. When I get about 100 meters out it drops into the 40s, with or without teammates, when I hit the middle of the map and see an enemy I get 15 FPS. Bizarre as hell, and I used to get 50-60 solid in September and October. Those November patches murdered my framerate.

I forget what file it is you can delete after every patch, its like a texture folder that just get rewritten as soon as you log in.

I've gotten into the habit of uninstalling then reinstalling after each patch, so far no change.

Still get much lower FPS since the newest incarnation of CryEngine was introduced, along with the 4 FPS issue after 3-5 matches, none of which I got prior to the CryEngine patch.

I tried this a while back to no effect and it doesn't surprise me. There aren't really any settings or temporary data that gets wiped from a reinstall. For all practical purposes MWO basically runs as a standalone application. There is the shaders cache that you can delete yourself...

I just went from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 8 x64, clean OS install, and MWO runs perfectly fine from my game drive where I had it installed before. *

* perfectly fine by MWO standards of course

I have a pretty old computer and the only thing that happens to me is the 4fps memory leak thing every fourth game for some reason.
That and rarely the overheat shutdown thing but all you gotta do is spam P to shut down and start back up and its fixed.

I play this game maybe 4-5 hours a day sometimes and really don't have any issues at least none that I don't have a quick fix for.

Running gamebooster and changing my windows 7 theme to windows 7 basic helped on my computer. But I only have 4GB of ram and 512MB of Vram.

4 FPS bug is still there... unfortunately.

Its stated in one of the threads by the Devs that the lag was due primarily to the TERRAIN details. So when your mech moves, your computer is busy loading new details in the background and hence the leg. Since then, they have worked on lightening up some maps such as the Forest Colony, which I did see significant improvement. ;)

I understand that, but I was running fine for a month and a half until the Nivember patches. The optimizations have done nothing for me, on Forest colony at the middle of the map I get 12 FPS as opposed to the 50 I had before.

Maybe PGI should hire a guy from Crytek to come in & show them how to make MWO look 5X better & run 5X faster than it does now, like any other CryEngine game does.

As a commercial licensee of the engine I expect that they actually have someone at Crytek to look at specific issues / help them out with coding specifics and optimizing. Its also in the interest of CryTek that a game based on their engine isn't too horrible.

Many many people re-install the game and get better results. I think they are chasing a bug in the patcher. Well, hopefully they are chasing it.

Alt-tabbing out/in fixed my fps after my driver crashed.

I used to run a pretty solid 60fps until these recent patches. Most notibly I ctarted crashing until I lowered my settings from maxed to medium. I think get the same fps, but the crashes have stopped.
