I've posted in similar threads like this, always asking the same thing. Why do we even have FF, if endo steel is always the better choice? Endo steel got a big nerf a while ago, it used to be 10% tonnage back, 10% ended up being to big, bam now its 5%. At 5% it still 100% times better then FF, so no one takes FF cause of the fact it's not that great of an upgrade. I believe FF gave double the armor points per ton in the tabletop book, but translating that to this game was too OP. So it does need something, but what?

MWO armor
Std armor 32 points per ton
FF armor 36 points per ton

Changes purposed
1. FF gives 33% (42.6) more armor per ton, making it another supplement alongside endo steel. FF at 42.6 points would be just under endo steel, but would give almost equal to tonnage returned compared to endo steel. In a sence it would give you close to another 5% tonnage returned.

2. FF gives 12% more armor per ton, but also increases the armor of the battlemech by 12%. This alot of people don't agree with, and I don't agree with either. It gives you more survivability, in turn everyone would take that over endosteel.

3. Remove the critical slots off the FF armor or atleast 1/2 of the criticals. The thought was that the armor is on the outside of the mech, so why should it take up internal slots. Its lighter and thinner armor, we have alloys(titanium) that are lighter and stronger then steel. So what the F@#$ FF, you suck as armor.

Ferro fibrous saves very little weight, takes up 14 crit slots and it's expensive to repair. And repair it you will, as it's always the first thing to get damaged.
I recommend not buying it and removing it from any mechs that have it if you intend to still have an income.

Well, most of my Lights run with FF.
Yes, I don't mind the 14 slots (I have plenty), but in my case it does increase my armour. The weight saved all go toward more armour as it wasn't maxed out to start with. (It's better not to get hit at all)

But for a Brawler, it's armour first...
Without the 14 slots penalty, I would be tempted on heavier chassis though.
