I know that when I'm hit with missiles in the head the residual smoke obscures your vision, but often times I when I hit subsequently, regardless of the location my screen essentially darkens to where I can see nothing. Is this working as intended or is this isolated?

I have this as well, I always assumed it was intended but now I am curious too. Indeed, sometimes I almost cant see a thing! (i have the feeling this happens when i get hit a lot regardless of what type of weapon I am hit by, but I could be wrong)

I heard it is because your armor is heating up to white hot

It seems more like map bug bcuz it happens me only at Forest Colony

happend to me on forest colony too. all i can remember is that this "darkening effect" was a lot worse a couple of patches ago.

It's a known bug.

Happens mostly on Forest Colony, very annoying when fighting chain firing StreakCats.

I still experience this issue and I now hate trying to play on FC. If I do get dropped in FC i apologize to my team then I quickly die in blackness. Were they going to fix this? Is anyone else experiencing this too?

I had it today on caustic.

Yeah, screen darkening combined with ECM cloaked mechs is not a good combo. At least before you could still see the target box.
