The MW:O homepage is not very New-Visitor-Friendly, in my opinion

This happens because the MW:O Homepage says nothing about hte fact that this game hasn't been released yet. If I were an unbiased newbie and waltzed across the MW:O website homepage and glanced over the content there, I would come to the conclusion the MW:O has been released and is currently being played.
I'm not saying the relevant information to educate one's self isn't available throughout the website... but the homepage certainly doesn't convey the fact that this game won't launch unitl late Summer.

I think the reason is a lot more simple than that. People are just too lazy to look. I don't know of any website where when the game IS available, there isn't a readily available link to download the game. (or a BUY link for retail games). When people get to forums, there's a mix of "don't bother to look, just ask" and "Why search when there's so many poorly titled threads, your chances of getting legit info is much harder, so I'll just ask"
With the large wide space on the front page (a great place for the eventual "Download Beta Client" or "Download Game" links, I think it might help (though only a little) to put a notice that says "Open Beta coming Summer 2012" But even then, don't hold your breath for new people to continue making "Where is the game?" threads.

While true, I agree with Prosperity that clearing this up could be useful. An update to the FAQ section could help alleviate some of the forum stress as well as new members are integrated into the community. Just put a "Summer 2012" somewhere. Also, a PSA on being more clear with your forum titles would definitely help as well. I blame Facebook/Twitter for the era of vague posts to grab some wandering souls attention

I agree; there's tons of room up top to give people a head's up that the game's just not out yet.

I've never liked the online game genre's idea of marketing BETA/GO Live dates, but it's a fluid environment where things change quickly, so I completely understand the hesitation to put a date out there (cause murphy's law is invoked and you're almost guaranteed to miss it at that point).
And pushing dates = bad juju for online games.
So here we sit, and pass the time by commenting on the smoke trail length of LRMs (yes it's come to that).
