So I find I'm pretty consistently doing about 280 - 320 damage per game.
I have no idea whether that is good bad or awful.
I see others with scores much much higher than mine, but I suspect they're using lots and lots of missiles in those builds. Streak boats, LRM boats, etc. . . Been markedly fewer of those since the last patch.
So what's a decent score for damage in a match?

Completely depends on your mech and role. Scout? thats good. LRM support? not so good. Brawler? eh, step it up a bit.
Remember someone doing a sniper build will get that damage and 4 kills. But a scout will get maybe 1 kill and that much damage.
Final point to remember if you do 320 dam but its all to CT's then thats more effective than someone who dos 800 dam spread out everywhere.

Yup, low amount of damage with high number of kills (unless you are literally getting all the last shots) is what you want to shoot for. It will also give a ton of salvage if teams are dealing a small amount of damage while getting a lot of kills.

There's no correct answer to this since how much damage you do is limited by how much damage you can do. If there are plenty of assaults on the enemy team you can do piles of damage, if they're all in Commandos you can't.
Also if you're concentrating on scouting you'll naturally do less damage than if you're brawling it out.
With a mech built for damage you can easily do at least 1k damage every round. Since you don't like missiles,I think my max so far in my a Gaussapult was not quite 1.6k (right after the ECM patch when everyone would move in a tight pack through the open, it was beautiful ).
Depends a lot on the team as well though. For example, I just did 489 dmg in my COM-1D on a loss and I had the only 2 kills for the team. If it had been a decent team I would have had the opportunity to do more damage but as it stood I had to run away and power down since as OP as light mechs are, 1 vs 6 are not the odds I'm fighting.
