You are right... with default speed and firepower almost the same between some medium and heavy mechs, is there a real reason to use mediums with lesser armor now?

I pilot the small Mechs. I wonder what this says about me as a person? Do i feel underpowered and vulnerable, because I enjoy watching a weaker mech triumph over stronger opponents.
Possibly it is that I just don't need to overcompensated for anything :)

S!

99% of time I use my Dragon. When occasionally doing PUGs, then any of my Founder's Mechs. Even then Hunchback seems to appeal most.

I can still kick bottoms with my hunchbacks during 8vs8 matches, although I lean towards using a Dragon for a similar role..

About the poll, I don't have enough options, I pilot mediums, heavies and assaults in equal manner. I completely miss (and will always avoid) lights/cicada.

In real life, I tend to like things that are light and maneuverable. This translates over to MWO.

Lights, heavies and assaults.

There is currently no medium that I like, but that might change in the future.

It seems like so far heavy mech is the most popular choice. In fact, thats pretty much what we see on the field as well with majority fielding Phracts and Cats.

I am just curious, why Heavy mechs and not Assault mechs?

I tend to consider the "new stuff" factor for Cataphacts/Ilya due to their recent introduction, Catapults because it's a platform that most of the time leads to OP or near-to-op builds (gausspult is still effective, AC20pult, SRMpult).

Dragons must be mastered well to be effective, hunchbacks tend to be fragile especially if you're fool enough (as I did until few patches ago) to slap XL's inside. Sorry but I can't find any use of the Centurions, although I've tried them several times.

Probably assaults are a little bit too slow for the majority of players? I am seeing lots of AWM 9Ms these days, and of course several DDCs.. Due to my heavy usage of phracts, dragon and hunchs, everytime I bring an altas I can't do builds that use less than a 350 engine, otherwise it's like going around with a moving brick :)

Lights, Founders Jenner that was untill ECM killed them, now I jumped on the OP light bandwaggon and run a 3L. I will go back to my Jenner once streaks are no longer required to reliably hit lights.

Interesting... I've killed my fair share of lights without ever using streaks...

Running a cataphract, never liked the heavy's until this appeared, before that would run either a huncie or cicada, might have a look at the stalker once it appears but not a big fan of the current assault's.
