I recently participated in a rather sniggly set of games where I and a handful of other lights just ran an outside route and base-capped to win the day. The match, and the fighting, had barely even started yet.
I was thinking, River city, Frozen city, and the factory on Caustic always make for some pretty intense/fun firefights as mechs maneuver between cover and take potshots at eachother between gaps. What if we expanded cap zones to include the entirety of areas like that? Instead of an odd, arbitrary outpost/marker we would be capturing an entire factory or city block. This would make both defense and capturing more interesting given the current mechanics; if you're defending, you need only step inside the square to stop the cap, and all of a sudden the enemy, rather than DEfending your base, has to go on the offense, hunting you down among the cover present throughout the zone. This would also make capturing more interesting as on approach, you would have no guarantee that there aren't any enemy mechs hiding in cover in their own base, and the approach would forcibly be much more careful and methodical.
