With PGI Server Connection issues, you can't blame the players all the time: Snit Happens in Beta

Don't they show up as disconnects?

Just send a support ticket with those that abuse the system

Only a few a cases actually show up as disconnects.

If you disconnect, as soon as the client is commited to the match, but before the mech drops to the match, you will show up as online.

If you have a black screen on drop, you are online, but unable to do anything. Moving, shooting, chat ... nothing works until the match is over or you force the client to shutdown. You will see a NoUserFound has disconnected message, if such a player closes his client.

If you disconnect, after the mech dropped into the game, you might actually show up as a disconnect. But even then it is not 100 % sure. A crash to desktop will not always register, that you left the game.

From what I've heard from others experiencing the "crash to desktop" bug is that your mech will still drop into the match and will appear as an afk.

Until crash bugs are resolved (basically when we're out of beta) you can't rule out the fact these "afk'ers" may be victims of these crash bugs.

Yellow screen bug also might appear as an AFK, depends on whether they give up or try to work without the HUD.
