Yes to shutdown. Wont show up on active radar, passive radar, and TBA on thermal. Only exception is a mech equipped with BAP can detect powered down mechs in a short(er) radius
By the way, this has been brought up a few times. Search function works pretty well.

shutdown can be used to diffrent situations, when on lock to break, to set ambushes, to hide in order to survive.
a mech blown to pieces cost more c-bill's so you may wanna save youre mech when saving for an bigger one.
when youre the last mech on youre team, youve got the entire team spectating you, hidding may make you look s an chicken but that doesn't escuse dead teammate's to rat on you in chat-to-all, i just had a game where i was in a very slow catapult, took me for ever to get to the line, on arrival everybode else was dead, i was standing on a bilding when the enemy came over the hill 5 heavy's strong, they got me on lock in an instand and i backtup behind the bilding, missels incomming i powerd down and waited to let them pass, (hearing them past) my plan was to let them past to base and attack from behind,.. then the silece came and i powerd up, on that moment a teammate was probbely tired of waiting and told the enemy that i was powerd down behind a bilding behind them,. they all turn around, luckly i fired one barrage of LRM's before my death,.. the name of the RAT i will never forget and won't play in his team ever again that's for sure ,.. YES I WIL DISCONNECT to bad for the rest but if i can't trust my teammate's this game is no fun for me.

I thought I had to wait until February to see the next episode of The Walking Dead... or is this The Talking Dead? I'm so confused.
