Its ridiculous you have a good team rolling out in order to go find the enemy, you are doing your best to spot and engage them whenever the come up, but you get the the middle of the map and realize that 5 or more of them go the other way and cap. You start making a B-line back to the base as fast as your mech will let you... when you realize it took them 10 seconds or so to knock out half of the cap bar because THEY ALL DECIDED TO CAP, and you dont stand any chance getting back in time to even put up a mediocre resistance.

Do these people just not like playing a giant stompy mech game, where you shoot other giant stompy mechs? If so why do they waste the time of us that actually like playing a giant stompy mech game, and SHOOTING other giant stompy mechs.

There really needs to be a way to limit the speed on which people can cap: do like WOT and have it to where there is a cap on how many mechs actually count toward the cap rate at one time, that way you have at least some chance of making it back in that kind of situation.

Well, with the introduction of ECM it is somewhat more difficult to find your enemies now if they dont all just derp to the center and brawl to see who wins the match

So if an ECM covered group goes along the right of the map and an ECM covered group goes along the left (using the caustic map as example here) they will generally just circle, and if you end up at the enemy base, why not cap?

What if on each map, the bases where at RANDOM locations? So you never knew for certain where the enemy base was?

Yeah, people just seem to hate the whole "giant mechs shooting eachother" part of this game and will go to massive lengths to defend baserushing as a legitimate way to play the game.

I just can't fathom how it's any fun.

I know that once Conquest mode is here I'm never, ever touching assault again.

Well to be fair I have sometimes taken a particular path with the team only to find no resistance and we are there .. why not cap? While I prefer to shoot things it's part of the game mode and a viable method to win. Having said that I do think they need a mode that is like assault without the base capping.

Simple change yet you have another game mode AND cater to those who don't want to play the base capturing games.

Because standing in a red square is boring?

When we do this we leave one guy at the square to force people to return and the rust of us hunt them down and slaughter everything.

Or die trying, either way, this way we get to play the game all of us signed up to play.

Namely mechs blasting eachother to pieces.

This is why I dislike this game mode so much. There's basically an incentive to collude and have both teams go for caps because then nobody has repairs and the match is over quickly. Unfortunately, many many players nowadays are so fixated on making "progress" in the form of unlocks and CBills that they forget there's a game to played along the way. This is not unique to this game. A good game design avoids these things, but the nature of free to play games are such that these features are fundamental to the game, ultimately cheapening the whole gaming experience.

There is a limit. After three or four mechs, the bar doesn't go any faster.

Oh to be sure, if the enemy is already soundly defeated on the field of battle that's fine, but the entire team bumrushing the red square without even trying to engage [indeed, trying to AVOID an engagement] is lame and boring and makes me feel like i've just wasted my time.

I PUG exclusively and most of the time the team wants to win (regardless of the method) so if I leave and I cause the team to lose, am I a team player or not? You need to think from all prespectives, not just your own.

My suggestion of another game mode is not out of the question.

I would rather take a loss than go camp the red square.
I do this regularly. Camping the base is something you do to grief people.

I hate the cap rush kiddies that run straight to the cap. Unfortunately ECM has made it much easier for them to pull this lame crap.

I play to be as useful to my team as I can and help it win.. when I think that capping is the best way to win in a given situation, I do it.

Although it is quite boring and I would rather fight all the time to be honest.

107k Cbills and some change, vs maybe a loss plus repairs. Not advocating it - just saying.

So tell me, when are you going to play the game instead of worrying about balancing your internet checkbook?

I fail to see how evading detection and using electronic warfare to your advantage isn't playing the game compared to just rushing head on into an enemy force.

Still, this mode definitely has a lot of work to be done to make it a viable and interesting alternative to the proposed Community Warfare.

It's called scouting.

No, really. If your entire team goes somewhere where the enemy isn't (and you yourselves aren't trying to base rush), you didn't scout. It's not like these maps are big enough that you can miss them nor does there seem to be a lack of light mechs, at least when PUGing.

Anyone that thinks "evading the enemy" and standing on a square equates to real world warfare is just plain stupid. For one, you don't just magically get an enemies territory by standing on a particular spot. For two, this is a game, and this game mode is completely stupid as hell.
