Killed a guy, he goes down, see my name, but in the end I was at zero kills...

DC kills report as 'soandso kill -blank-'
Legitimate kills report as 'soandso killed soandso'
I got a legitimate kill in a couple games and the scoreboard read 0 at the end... These were not DC kills.

You has to work hard to kill a mech that has no pilot & can't fight back?
XD
Also aye, there be a few annoying players who DC right before they die. (They usually pilot assaults to buy themselves time to disconnect....)

Happens in a few matches. Sometimes even Scouts DC right before they get killed. Seems they didn't read the Roadmap about the upcoming combat score, I'm sure everything will be reset then: http://mwomercs.com/...ember-4th-2012/
Combat Score
Target Date: No ETA
Status: Design Complete
Notes: Combat Score compliments the new matchmaking system and will be used in scoreboards to rank players. This is an aggregate scoring system.

This particular situation is a team killing incident.

Only people that disconnect BEFORE the match actually starts or shortly after are shown as disconnected in the scoreboard and lead to the "pilotname killed" message. People that disconnect or lose connection midgame will still be shown as "alive" on the scoreboard sometimes they even keep moving (strong hint at client crash/connection loss) and if you kill those you get the usual "pilotname killed pilotname" message, but the kill will not be accounted for in the end match screen.

In an assault game, kills are worth 5,000 C-bills. Assists are wroth 7,500 C-bills. A balancing factor is that destroyed components are worth 2,500 C-bills, and a kill also earns the component destruction bonus. Conquest games pay half that, but make up for it with pay for collected resources.
Not counting the 15xp bonus for each component destroyed, a battlemech kill is worth exactly 200xp. This gets divided between participants based on their contribution. For example, if you earn 50xp for a kill or assist then 150xp is being divided between the other people who helped with the kill.
So rather than looking only at the official kill & assist numbers, take a look at your experience earned too. If you have earned at least 200 xp between kills and assists then congratulations. You have done enough damage to the enemy to have at least pulled your own weight, so you have nothing to be ashamed of even if your team lost. Less than 100 and you probably need a mirror before you can start placing blame on anyone in your team. Take a good look at what went wrong and think of how you can correct it.
At some point in the future, those stats in your profile are going to be wiped to make room for a better achievement system. It is not like pilots can look up other pilot stats anyway. So it likely isn't worth stressing over.

Edit: I made an error. I thought Ryvucz was the person who responded to another topic of mine with a one sentence line that read "Shoot enemy mechs. Do not be shot." He was not this person. He is, however, absolutely incorrect on this point.
So let me clarify positively that it was absolutely not a team killing incident. I was shooting at a red mech, with no other mechs in my field of view, and I could not have been firing at anyone else. This has happened many times. Easily once in every ten kills. It needs fixing.

Also not always true. I have definitely, absolutely killed two enemy mechs in one game and been credited for only one kill. This was especially obvious given that there were 8 mechs on the other team, all of whom were killed without dc messages (i.e. no "so and so kills -blank-"), yet only 7 kills were credited (of which I had 1 instead of 2). Were C Bills and XP properly assessed? I don't know. But there is something going wrong with the stats tracking, and that makes me nervous.

The only time I have seen no credit for a kill was when the mech pilot had disconnected.
Unless you're either killing a team mate (nets no XP or C-Bills or confirmed kill) or killing a disconnected player (nets no XP or C-Bills or confirmed kill), you should take appropriate screenshots and/or video and send them to support@mwomercs.com with details pertaining to the bug you are referencing here.
