I know from another thread, that people have the same issue.

When your graphics settings are set to low, your draw distance behaves very strange.
You can't see enemy mechs while you can lock them and they can shoot you, because they see you. If they shoot you, you see the shots but still not the mech.

Either give us a draw distance slider or make it the same for EVERYONE, this is nothing but a highly unfair advantage over others.

You can still shoot them, since they are in the [center of the red box].

It's kinda annoying, though only PPCs, LRMs, AC/ and ER weapons can really hit that far.

Don't set your graphics setting to low? Most people have reported that changing graphics settings doesn't seem to improve FPS at all so there isn't a real strong reason to do so. In fact some have reported that changing it to low has LOWERED their FPS compared to High.

well prior bap or sensor pilot module equalized this. now with ecm.. what malfing red box?

as to the setting things to high, well i haven't got it quite down pat yet, but if you are trying the custom user configs like i am to stabilize srm/medium laser range fights fps, then the settings controlling mech view distance are there.

pretty sure viewspeclerp = 1 sets it to whatever the designers set as the high setting view distance for everything on a per map basis. i'm still trying to figure out which of the other related ratio settings cuts shrubbery and the like to near field only so it's not drawing them for the whole durned map when a long sightline exists.

this is one of those areas you are going to have to work with and test quite a bit to see what, if anything works for you. high has alot of expensive candy while very high doesn't add much beyond high in the related section(object detail is the section controlling this stuff. might be able to just set that high). seems the actual jumps in the files are low and high only(.5 of set value. medium adjusts other viewdist ratios specifically. high sets the lerp to 1.0 of set value[ie full]. and very high really doesn't bump much up from high).

bear in mind i am still figuring that section out. you might get better results from asking colonel pada vinson, yaros, eternalcore or bladeXXL (or asking in the how to get user.cfg working again thread, me i've been bullheadedly hoping to add something rather than beg an answer).

I've had this issue too. Playing on Medium settings. The main problem for me is that often the mechs aren't targeted either due to distance or ECM, so I get stuck in a bad spot getting hit by mechs I can't see.

i had that on Large Laser range, too.
Additionally, sometimes they may be jsut behind a rock, but spotted, you can target them but you don't know if they are behidn this giant hill or right in front of it.
Besides that, that also goes for mechs that are not spotted and no in sensor range - they can see me and shoot, but all i see in tat direction is... nothing

yeah well... settign the graphics to low DOES help with FPS for me, that is the first thing.
The second thing is: Why would you implement settings like 'low' and then recommend to not use it? That's ********, if this setting is there, it needs to be in a form that it is usable for everyone.
