Dat's not a big un'. Here is a big un. Look at me gargant. Me kalls it Zap n' Wak.
See that dere big choppa? It's really killy with zappy know-wots on it so it melts armor like snotling brains.
It glows red when we start it up an' as you'se knowses red is fasta. It chops fasta.

On that dere other arm dere's a UGE speshul shoota with' spiny bits, lot's o' gubbins an' it uses slugs dat me weirdboyz dance aroun' till deyse spark.
It doesn't do much dakka yet but me meks are workin' on it. Dey'se better make it more dakka dakka or i will throw dem into dat dere minefield that the humies laid to slow us down.
But the big boom makes dem mechies fly really high in da air. Like they try being fluffy birdies. Uhuhuhuhu.
Me and the boyz always laugh when dat 'appens.

Wan't a drink? The huge ork offers the Lyran reporter a big crude metal mug filled with something that smells like gasoline.
It has a small welding tool looking device mounted on the rim.
No? Good. More for me. He flicks a switch that ignites the content and starts chugging down the now burning liquid.

From an interview with Ork Warboss Kolm Armorgnawer regarding his career and his opinion of the Lyran Commonwealth's resistance to his so far unstoppable WAAAGH!!!

Well that's just silly, the Axman is the coolest.

Not.

It's a POS IMO. Honestly, an axe on a 31st century war machine is beyond dorky. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion regarding such things, but I've always hated melee weapons on futuristic technology.

The Axeman and Hatchetman were somewhat underwhelming in TT games when I used to play also. and the AC-20 on the axeman is a much more useful part of it than the axe.Throw away the axe and put a large laser or something on it and you've got a decent mech.

In my experience, the Axman is a solid mech, extremely capable in any of its known configurations.

Who in their right mind would malign this machine???

Methinks the mechwarriors who are engaged in smearing this fine mech's reputation have been perhaps drinking mechdrek. ;)

XL engine on an in fighter isn't a good thing. I forget whether the original had an XL engine, however the mech isn't that tough for it's role. In fighters get hit a lot, having a standard engine would work better for it.

I never cared much for the Axman or the Hatchetman. They look too Japanese/Voltron-esque anime/cartoonish to me. The attraction of Mechwarrior is the gritty realism. For my money I prefer a mech that is more "us army" looking than fantasy graphic novel looking.

Id rather have the Hatchetman at a Medium weight class. But the Axman is cool too.

A Axeman & melee combat would rock.I'm all in for that .IMO just having the melee option would be nice, the more options the better.I think the devs could doll it up a bit to look less fantasy and more army .

I have been warming up to the 2N version more, greater range versatility and still pretty fearsome up close. It's a great ambusher in rough terrain with the JJs.

Axeman is a great mech, surprise it never became as popular as the Hatchetman but same can be said for many other great mechs (such as the future Nightsky)

My curent piolet has a modified 2N, swaped out the twin LRMs for a pair of ER PPCs. More or less a Black Knight with jump jets and a Axe!

I have reason to believe that much of the criticism for this otherwise fine and perfectly functional battlemech is due to the fact that, despite it's fitting name, it does not shoot axes. Sure, it's armed with one, but what people REALLY want is to be able to propel large, bladed things at each other through some means, and what better way than to do so whilst in a massive robotic body that weighs many tons and, throughout history, has been armed with many ranges of weaponry. It is true, of course. I myself would much enjoy the feel of pulling the trigger on my battlemech and seeing a torrent of axes spinning and hurtling towards my opponents, as I am sure many, many others would as well. The pilots creating the criticisms may also be finding it difficult to be able to use said axe due to it not being able to fire and having to get close which may not be a part of their standard tactics, or due to my previous mention of the Axman simply not being able to fire axes in the first place, which is the more likely of cases. Henceforth, they are unable to compromise and, rather than address the problem or deal with the situation, complain about it.

Perhaps the Axman will one day be able to mount said weapon and spew whirling instruments of death at opponents, but until then, we must make due and simply reach out and touch our targets instead. Hard, and blade first, of course.

I'm 23 and yes. Why do you ask?

If you couldn't tell, I was just being silly.

And bored. Sometimes I just feel like doing something completely out there for whatever reason I can think of. Can't even remember what I was thinking when I made that post, actually. LOL.

Well I think the Idea of a meele class mech would be cool and on paper it worked great but in a sec by sec battle like in this game it would have to move realy fast and as we know the axeman dose not. So what will happen if you see a mech with a axe runing at you, Well more than likely you WILL blow its leg off befor it gets to you and be on your way to other targets. Posted Image Oops I forgot my axe at the bar

Odanan what can you be thinking by drooling over the Axeman. It is the pinup mech of the FedComs and will be used to enforce the will on the people of the FWL. Shame on you!! The FWL wants you to pilot something more fitting with their battle doctrine...An Orion or an Archer would suit you better.

IMO the only way to utilise a hatchet mechs is as an ambush fighter and the one trick that both the Hatchetman and Axeman are missing to make this mission possible is ECM...so they better hope a stolen Capellan Raven has been assigned as a lance mate.

Axman all the way. Swap out that heavy AC20 for a nice LRM launcher, then swap out the crappy large pulse for a manly PPC. Hit hard from range, and anything has to keep its distance or face the axe!
