CBILL Grinding tends to mean micromanagement of armor, no ammo/little ammo refils.
Upgrades to armor and structures do change repair costs considerably.

Somewhere around the forums there is a thread (maybe by Vlad Ward?) that talks about maximizing salvage for fun and profit. Worth a look for anyone looking to grind FMUs.

You people who are only repairing part of your mechs are screwing your teammates. You drop with partial mechs and then make a surprise face when a teammate cores you from behind. Its rude and inconsiderate to drop a 60% mech.
How much difference do you think it makes to the CBills earned by the mech you just killed when you do this? How much difference do you think it makes to the CBills you earn?
Feel free to kill me if you see me in game. I'll be in another game earning CBills in less than a minute and you'll be stuck in a game with one less mech on your team.

Easy. COM-2D or RVN-3L max out your streak capacity and laser. Run behind enemy and hit him in the back, rinse and repeat till dead. If you run into another ECM pilot, just flip yours to counter mode.

I always repair my mechs to full, but I have a few that are exceptionally cheap to repair and rearm that I use to grind C-Bills. The best one is:
Hunchback 4P
Engine: Standard 250
Upgrades: Double Heat Sinks
Weapons: 7 Medium Lasers (6 in hunch, 1 on head)
Other Equipment: Double heat sinks anywhere you can cram them. You should reach 20 heat sinks total (this includes engine heat sinks).
You move at 81 kph which isn't super fast but faster enough. Your alpha strike does almost as much damage as 4 large lasers and even on hot maps you can do it twice before you have to wait for heat to dissipate. After the two alphas you can either chain fire your mediums very rapidly or wait for your heat to drop below 60% (each alpha takes 40%) which doesn't actually take very long. The general strategy is to to follow a heavy or assault mech (preferably a brawler) and engage with them. With some practice holding the lasers in place you can do incredibly high targeted damage. It isn't difficult to be one of the top damage dealers on the team and pick up a couple kills. You just have to try to not be the focus of attention. A really bad game will cost you 40K to repair but the average is much closer to 20k or lower.
