So I've got the rest of the day and I am determined to squeeze as many FPS out of my machine as I can. When i first started playing I was getting around 40-60 (last 2 weeks of closed beta) this was with the settings set to Very High and resolution at 1920-1080. If i try to run the game with those settings I average around 15FPS now. I've had success with lowering my resolution but I would like to find the optimum settings for everything.

Making this post in hopes that someone will have some advice on what to do. I am well read on the command chair posts that say what PGI is doing to solve the matter but I just don't feel like waiting any longer I really enjoy playing this game and want to do so at an more reasonable FPS. Here are my computer specs (machine is at least 2yrs old)

Asus P7P55D-E PRO (Motherboard)
Intel Core i5 750 @ 2.67GHz
ATI Radeon HD 5800 series
4GB @ 1333MHz (Low, I know first thing I will upgrade but not till early next year)

Things I am going to do:
Redownload and reinstall (tried this by itself before with no effect)
Defragment Hardrive (I reinstalled windows around the time I got this game I expect no change but will do it anyway for peace of mind)
Fiddle with Graphics Card settings via catlyst control center: MWO profile is set for best performance already but going to start with it set in a balanced state and work down from there.
In the end I expect I will continue to have to run the game in a far lower resolution than I would prefer.

I'll update this i suppose if i make some progress...

P.S. Normal Ping is 40ms I'm in Michigan

Edit: tried messing with affinity in task manager, game was already using all four cores though a bit unevenly, it is not my bottleneck

Run it on Medium Settings. Very minor difference in image quality and better performance.

The Crytek 3 Engine is still a little uneven at this point.

You also did not note what OS is being used. I have dual boot XP-32/Win8-64 and the difference is 20FPS vs 60FPS+. Obtain the trial 90 days/Enterprise versions of either Win7 or Win8.

Win7

ATI 7950 3gig memory
8 gigs memory
Win8 Pro 64bit.

Win 7 Home premium x64, been running in a lower resolution I think I am just a little low on ram. Going to try overclocking a little bit since I got Ai suite to monitor the heat and I am in a basement cpu is running nice and cool. Will see if that improves things.

Running 1920x1080, underclocked system to 2.4ghz, FPS In river city running 35-45 FPS.

If ya able to OC to at least 3.0 to 3.4ghz, you should see some excellent return on it.

After testing these setting myself and having two others that I game with try them I am posting these to have you check.
FPS was checked with fraps starting after countdown finished and running for 3 min into the match, average fps gain was around 3 for myself the other two just reported a gain but did not do any definitive testing. So try them in your user.cfg and see if they help you.

r_TexResolution = 3
r_TexBumpResolution = 3

these should use the software to reduce the resolution of the image files when they are compiled at startup.
