I have seen 2 - 6 trial Mechs in the games i've played today. This either means new players or players wanting a challenge piloting those steaming pieces of junk. Its hard to get a handle on the game as a new player, especially with a ping of 300+. By the time you shoot at the Light Mech in front of you, its behind you blasting your rear torso to pieces. New players are unlikely to be up against other new players, they are more likely to be up against experienced players who have spent hours modifying and testing their Mechs so they can blast new player into a heap of slag in under two minutes(if the newbie lasts that long). Why would they come back. The sooner a system that matches player ability is implemented the better.

New-ish player here. If I hadn't played a lot of MW2 many years ago, I wouldn't have had the slightest clue what to do. Luckily, I got the hang of it pretty quickly.

I found the basic mechanics of the game to be fun, which is the most important part, but had a really hard time getting anywhere. I read forums and watched videos (which were both filled with people talking about how the game is ruined, which surprised me since it seemed pretty fun) and sorta figured out what I was doing.

I decided to save up for an ECM Raven rather than getting a Commando, since I didn't want a Commando, and I wanted to be useful to the team.

It didn't feel like a grind at first, but then it did. I was getting a little sick of things by the time I quit saving up and bought a Catapult K2 instead. Not a bad mech, to be certain. (Especially once I found out about cheaty designs like the Gausscat) It's not that I think the trial mechs are terrible (though it'd be nice if the Awesome actually had enough heat sinks to use some of those weapons in it), but that outfitting your mech, and actually giving a fling whether you die or not, is a whole aspect of the core gameplay which I didn't know anything about for hours and hours...

Listen to yourself.

You can't use "it's a beta test" to excuse problems while simultaneously demanding someone drop 15+ dollars to buy a pretend robot before you care what they say. A pretend robot with "auto detect: no signal" on all its interior screens...

The game is going to die at some point. Every game dies. It's just a question of how long it takes. Saying "good riddance" to "F2P" players, again, in this open beta, doesn't strike me as very healthy language.

Great post. I'm just wondering where the part was that I said you needed to drop $15 dollars on this game. In fact, I never said anyone should drop any money on here whatsoever. I don't mind you making good points, but don't just make $#!+ up to sound cool.

As far as the "F2P" players I was addressing (since you missed it and wanted to edit part of it out) were the ones who dropped 4 matches, posted a whine thread and then bailed. Unless you thought they were worthwhile contributors to this community and wanted to keep them around? For the F2P guys that toughed out the 20 hour grind to get their own mech and have continued on, good for you! I hope you get into a good merc unit or house and hang around until community warfare is implemented. For the aformentioned F2P guys, please see Radko - he wants to take you under his wing and look cool doing it.

I was having a lot of Fun in the Trial mechs actually.
I was even having fun getting PubStomped by MercUnits if you can believe it.

...till this week...
What a cruel twist too... they finally optimize the game enough for me to play it and then I can't play it because 7 out of 8 matches have the same people in them which there's currently no real recourse against (least of all being able to record them). ...people we apparently can't even discuss here judging by how quickly the threads about them disappear. I was so close to hitting 5billion cbills too to finally buy my own mech. Guess I'll have to wait even longer now and find something else to play till then.

can you farm cbills faster in trial mechs or founders mechs that get blown up?

cause the trials can get blowed up an you dont have to repair... the founders get the bonus of course, but you have to repair them.
