whole mech look like catapult.

UGLY.

You said ugly, but I think you meant to say AWESOME. Catapult is the best looking mech in the game afterall

Seriously though, I think the Stalker looks alright. It looks a little boring (like a brick with legs), but then again, so did the concept art. I don't have issues with it.

It does seem to be a bit shorter in the snout in the in-game shot. Look at the panel in the concept art that has the "Meat Grinder" text on it; it's clearly an elongated rectangle. In the in-game shot, that panel is almost quadratic.

That said, I still think it looks fine in the in-game shot.

After doing some ctrl-tabbing between the concept and the front page lineup of Stalkers I have come to the conclusion that it is the raised arms that messes with the look, at least in my book. In the concept art the arms are more or less even with the CT. In the implementation, the arms have been raised above the height of the torso. I disagree with this design decision, but there may or may not be a reason, related to that subject, that I'm not a CG artist.

Might have come down to what Viper69 said about clipping the legs when torso twisted.

the catapult and stalker share similar design anyways, so looking similar shouldn't be an issue. i think the true test will come in-game when the models stand side by side. the stalker should be bigger and noticeably so. i think the model looks fine, concept art is just that. concept, how many production cars looked exactly the same as their concept art?

It's entirely Camera angle IMO.

The concept art is 50% between the front and the right and slightly above the mech, The screen cap however is almost fully square with the right side (7/10ths?) and level with the mechs head/torso.

Perspective can do funny things but it's probably very close to identical. Also without another mech next to it it's hard to accurately judge it's size. I dont' think based on this pic we can infer much more that it looks slightly different from a different angle.

I like it. It looks like the Catapult's meaner big brother.

Umm...its way bigger catapult'like mech ... and catapult is cool.

So, (using some basic logic) Bigger catapult = cooler mech ? ;]

Given that the original looks pretty much like an I C Weiner on legs, the modellers did a good job.

It's the angle.. The concept is viewed from slightly above, the game screenshot from slightly below.. The perspective of the second picture makes it seem like the arms are higher, but they really don't appear to be

To me, according to the Battlemech webpage, it looks fine: Stalker

The arms are even with the legs. The only thing I can see with the above "Ears" pictures is that the arms look like they stick out further than the legs. But the above link shows that they are indeed even with the legs.

So, for me, the Stalker looks fine. But I am reserving judgement until a look at it in-game.

Well, the stalker was ALWAYS ugly.

That said, the nose is too skinny and the front loses the bull nosed brute look of Alex's concept. And how the heck does it walk on such tiny little hooves?

you need more supporting evidence if you are going to make a poll. most people are not that good visually. Just think in a room how many people can actually draw. (in a class of 20 maybe 2 or 3)

Most people can't tell the difference and will say its perspectives. When theres a difference in torso to arm size ratio and positioning.

What are the majority of you all on?

The upper torso isn't even fully connected to the lower torso. It's the same bug as on the Hunchback. It's right in the picture. LOL

Also, the upper torso is WAY too high. It looks more like an oversized Raven than it does a Stalker. Everybody that thinks the pic in the OP thread looks "exactly" like the Concept Art need to go visit Lenscrafters. It looks nothing like it. The ears/arms are too big and too high. The main upper torso/fuselage is too high. The nose looks shorter, and the legs look too long.

I'm wondering if some of you people even looked at the picture the OP posted.

Here's another pic:

That looks the same as the Concept Art? Ok. LOL
