Dear PGI,

Do you have any plans to ensure that when community warfair goes live (or, hopefully before) and clans and lances start competing for terriroty, that players which have the perpetual misfortune of suffering with 300-350ms pings will be able to compete against people with connections x3-10 times faster?

Cheers.
An Australian.

Most mechs arent slow and do have incredible lagshields and exhibit a lack of hitreg.
Everyone with 300-350ms wont even be able to get a foot in the door on the warmap.

Not the end of the world, We'll have to compensate with the lag shots a little and we're still going to land shots, in fact joke would be on them when we high pingers do kill them.

Tactics over Rambo skills.

You do realize that if you have a 400ms ping and have trouble hitting anyone, everyone has trouble hitting you too right?

Yes, I do.
Do you realise that although people with 400ms do rubber band and visually lag a lot they are still easier to hit, with your damage dealt still centered on your reticle instead of SOMEWHERE 1-1.5 inches fore/aft of the direction your target is moving?

My ping is in the 50's at its very worst, and I frequently have to lead up to 1.5" in brawls using lasers against the fastest lights with pings of 150ms+.

AWESOME!! Lets swap ping!!!!
That way we'll only have to lead when using lasers on the fastest light mechs instead of on everything... including Atlases, which at least you have a large torso to lead on.
Even then, its just up to luck to whether or not your damage actually registers.

When you go one on one with a raven, and get to watch the raven magically appear all around your mech, taking no damage while you pour shot after shot into it (even when it stops), youll see the problem

I saw that last night and Im in the US. The next game there was no latency at all. The next game, skipping lights

I was just refuting your statement that players with good pings don't have to lead, not that they don't have an easier time of playing.

I hope the netcode becomes acceptable for aussies, who might be the most skilled nationality of mechwarriors on average because of always having had to cope with a higher degree of difficulty.

Im from the Philippines, far away from the servers so im sort of stuck in the 300ms range for the most part, but it sometimes comes up so bad during the day that I end up playing at odd hours (sometimes day, sometimes, night etc)

I dont think its the service provider connection, but more of my sheer distance to the servers (in all directions). Im not sure where the closest server is, but i think its the one ion Australia.

Oftentimes I would see a couple of ERPPCs from my Dragon hit an enemy mech, and some other guy from my team kills him off, but the hit doesnt register, and I dont have the kill assist.

But then there are days that even having a 300ms lag doesnt affect me that much. Sometimes to the point of the lag being moot except for long range sniping.

As I have only recently started have Lag issues... up to 2700ms. Would like to know why this never happened on my crappy laptop 2 months ago? Frame rates were crap but my ping was a steady 48-59 ms.

shooting at laggy players is just as difficult as shooting from within lag - I've been on both sides of the equation and you still have to guess where to shoot by leading 1-2inches either way

it's a known exploit for light mech players to deliberately run downloads to increase their ping to 400+ making it virtually impossible to hit them

Does no one read dev posts? Netcode fixes are incoming in the next month or two.
