First, let me get this out of the way; the animations in this game are SHACK. Very well done through and through.
That being said, I noticed that when mechs move faster and approach their max speed, their animation is the same, it just cycles faster. As with the human body, when we increase our speed, our body shifts into different positions in order to take advantage of the momentum we generate. (Compare this as a power walker who is just doing the 'walking' animation faster vs. an actual animation of someone running)
So PGI, are you planning on eventually adding additional animations for Mechs when they are achieving higher speeds?

shack?
also.. its a robot not a person. why would it change its movement when going faster?

Shack
Mechs move using similar mechanics to human bodies. Primarily they use legs, even though they don't swing their arms and instead use their gyroscope to maintain balance.

I think you point is that by using a longer stride a running mech would require less "movement" on the screen and thus improve performance?

I think having different animations for different 'gaits' would be nifty, but for me it's a lower priority polish issue. I want it on a list somewhere, but there are other things I am worried about first.

The reason why I made the suggestion was to have a more natural looking animation for the Mech's increased movement speed. The walking animation cycle 'works' to a certain speed, then it kind of looks like he's skating, even though the speed of the animation was increased, the mechanics of moving that much mass that much faster doesn't look right to me.

Agreed; it would be low priority; I just to see it come down the pipes down the line. If we talk about it now, they can add it to a 'to do list' to address it down the line.
