I have an X52 Pro with the Pro Flight Pedals add-on, and let me tell you, this works beautifully for mech games. I can do quite a good job of replicating a "real" mech control setup as described in the fiction and Tech Manual, with the movement and jump jet controls on the pedals, everything else I could need on the stick and throttle. It's great, it's controllable, it's fun, it's immersive...

...and it's a setup that's entirely unsupported by far too many games. I've had to fight to get the pedals to work for a lot of the games I've wanted to use them with, sometimes with eventual success, sometimes with none at all. The problem is, IIRC, the pedals show up as a second device, not part of the joystick, and a lot of games won't allow control axis to be split across two devices.

With a new Mechwarrior that's promising to be a real simulator again, I'd love to be able to use that control setup, instead of having to resort to an awkward twist stick rudder control, or any other less precise control axis or button setup.

I can't imagine that it's that difficult to allow the control setup to use multiple devices; no harder than allowing a keyboard, mouse, and joystick together; but it wouldn't be the first mech game where I'd found that to be impossible. Please don't let me down on this one; it's not a simulator without proper controls!

Yes, it would be nice to have proper support for joysticks, pedals, and other PC peripherals. Being able to use the pedals to rotate your torso and the brakes to hit your jet would be awesome.

Yeah, if it supported something like that I think I could probably get my old Steel Battalion controller to work on this game, which would be really amazing.

Please allow for a lot of control customization and support.

I thought the pedals were more supposed to be used for turning your feet, using it to turn the torso would seem to lead to less accuracy in weapons fire when tracking moving enemies with torso turning alone. (at least this has been my experience with my own CH products setup)

Using PPJoy ( http://ppjoy.bossstation.dnsalias.org/ ), you can configure multiple devices to be recognized as one "device" in games.

PPJoy is how I set up MechWarrior 4 to use my footpedals (from a racing wheel) for turning. Normally, MW4 would use the wheel itself for turning, but using PPjoy I flipped the axises (so the wheel became Y, and the pedals X), allowing me to use the pedals as turning devices, with the wheel sitting off the to side; I could aim up and down with the wheel if I really wanted too.

I suppose you're right. You could use a twist joystick to turn the torso and pedals to turn the feet.

I plan on using my custom setup. An old Steel Battalion VT Controller. If you've never seen one, it really is an amazing controller. It works with MW 4 mercs, and I will try my best to make it work with MWO! And if you thought having 2 pedals was bad, try using the VT controllers 3 pedals, two joystick, 40 buttons, and a shift lever!

I have the same Setup... and that is the best way to get in to the Game... A bit of a learning curve but...

Another steel battalion fan O.o I love you!

gawd I love that controller. Too bad mine is old and beat up... (It got moved around a lot while I was in the military, and now the left joy is off center...) T_T

Naw I have the Saitek X52 and proflight pedels... getting a set of Thrustmaster MFD's for more control... hoping that they allow multiple controllers for the game.

I've got the Steel Batallion controller too. I love that game but I wouldn't try to use the controller for Mechwarrior. It's really designed for one game, and that's it. I'm sure it could be made to work for Mechwarrior, but less than optimally; the throttle isn't smooth, it just has a set of discrete stops, the pedals are stiff and have no toe brakes, the buttons are just all over and not grouped right for anything but SB. I'd be happier with my X52 Pro and pedals.

Hello guys

I have this at home.

Do you know how to configure this in the game?

I tried yesterday... and I was going in circles...

Thanks for any help

Given the way DirectX makes controllers work this should be stupid easy for the devs to integrate.

Wow, 13 posts and no one bothered to tell you this is already supported?

I have an X52 with a throttle and rudder pedals and the game registers them just fine.

There is no analog turn for the legs yet, so while you can control them with rudder pedals, it's either on or off right now. You also have to change some configuration settings because by default the joystick moves your torso way too slowly.

If you guys are really interested in this, I suggest using the forum search function. There are detailed instructions on joystick setups pinned in one of the forums.
