Can someone please explain exactly how single and double HS are working currently?
Are the heat efficiency numbers correct?
For Example:
I was told that engine DHS actually count as X2 SHS but others count as X1.4 SHS. I thought all DHS were at X1.4.
Regardless it seems that MWO is making this more complicated than necessary.
At the very least we need an effective SHS number that is displayed. The current HS # display is not very useful using this sideways math.

The first 10 engine HS are 2.0, all others are 1.4.

I don't believe the heat efficiency calculation done in the Mechbay is correct, but your understanding of the Heat Sinks is right.
Thus, you get a huge benefit from the DHS upgrade regardless of what mech you are playing because of the Engine heat sink (acting as a full 2x) bonus.

You can also slot MORE heat sinks in the engine, 1 per every 25 rating, starting at 275, for no slot cost. For instance, if you're 300(ie Atlas), then you can drop 2 heat sinks in the engine for no crit slot cost. What does this mean? Well, why bother with singles when the doubles can drop into these just as effectively? It's a 1:1 ratio doing this, crit slot cost is thrown out, thus doubles do 1.4, vs SHS 1.0, and nothing else. Why spend 1 ton for 1.0 when you can spend 1 ton for 1.4? I had a 325 in my Atlas, meaning 3 free engine sink slots. That's 1.4x3 vs 1.0 x 3, for the same weight spent. I also did this on my Catapult(back when I actually used it), by upgrading him to 375, then dropping a sink in there instead of having it eat up 3 slots regularly. Oh how I miss my "The once great C1F", it had such a perfect build. 65/65t, using every single crit slot.
