Based on this...

PPCs and ERPPCs
Increasing the PPC projectile speed is a nerf, not a buff. You will now have a harder time synergizing fire with the gauss rifle (the PPCs natural mate) against laterally moving targets.

The PPCs need the following IMO:

- keep projectile speed unchanged
- slow rate of fire to the same as the gauss rifle
- reduce heat
- increase burst damage by 1 or 2 points
- temporary ECM-like effect along with NV/thermal disruption and HUD distortions on impacted target

LL and LPL
LL are ok as they are (maybe a slight reduction in heat), but LPLs definitely need to have their heat reduced. They should be useful for heavy and assault mechs to use in groups in a brawl but they are FAR too hot to brawl with ATM without severely compromised DPS relative to the weapon's weight.

Machine Gun
I don't know what PGIs problem is with the machine gun but it is infuriating. I really want to like it...they're fun to use. The devs just don't seem serious about making it a viable weapon however. Slightly increase damage???? Are they serious? There's no "slightly" here. The damage needs to be downright tripled! It's ridiculous as it is. The machine gun is an "anti-infantry" weapon in a game that's completely devoid of any infantry! Either make the weapon viable against mechs (preferred), or just remove it from the game.

The whole "increased crit chance" is just ridiculous BTW. What's a mech supposed to do to get through the target's armor in the first place if one or more precious ballistic hardpoints is being used for pea-shooters? Further, what's the point of a 4 ballistic slot light or medium mech like one of the Cicada variants? It can only fill all those slots with machine guns. It'll be dead before it manages to even barely scratch its opponent's armor let alone get through it to the soft stuff.

Oh, my machine guns are super effective against a mech that's already almost dead anyway? That's really just so very useful... Posted Image

Scout class mechs and hunter/killers (Commando, Jenner, Raven, Cicada at this point) need weaponery they can brawl against other scouts with like streaks (in the missile category) or SLs, SPLs, MLs, or MPLs (in the energy class). The machine gun needs to become a weapon that can stand shoulder to shoulder with these others and become the first weapon in the ballistic class that fits the scout's role.

Why does PGI act as though machine guns are relatively viable weapons that merely need to be tweaked? They aren't. They are garbage. That's evidenced not only by the personal experience of almost any decent pilot, but simply by the rarity you see one fielded.

List of folks who use machine guns:

- the newbie
- the non-competative dakka-dakka addict
- the "I bought this ballistic light brawler to level the skills of my primary variant"
- the "I did well once or twice while I had a machine gun on my ride and now I erroneously believe the weapon posesses mystical powers"

That's about it. Posted Image

You know the main weapon a scout has is speed right? When you see that the armour has been removed from an enemy, run in and start critting it. You are not supposed to go head to head with the enemy.

Of course a PPC beam should travel faster than a gauss. One is a lump of metal, the other a bolt of charged particles travelling like lightning. This patch is going to finally make them closer to what they should have been all along.

I don't see what you can possibly have against what is an incrimental and much needed weapon balance pass. Please remember that while none of this is final, it is being tweaked based on the data gathered from thousands to hundreds of thousands of games. Therefore I imagine given the vastly positive response to the changes it is going in the right direction.

The machine gun in Bt is just as powerful as an ac/2, and a slight boost(say.02damage per shot) actually means alot to the machine gun, it is a low damage per shot weapon afterall.
Also very few mechs mount both a gauss rifle and a ppc naturally, they even have massively different ranges of effectiveness, they are comparable as the snipers of energy and ballistics, but they serve different purposes beyond that.

You left out me, the guy who will laugh maniacally as the enemies die because they thought the MG was a useless hunk of metal, the guy who will also end the match with as many assists as there were kills on our team (minus the kills I get for myself), the guy who has fun on the field because his mech is a joy to pilot.

I am only slightly offended when someone "knows" all the types of things out there. It reeks of *sniff sniff* arrogance. There is more to the world than our own narrow views... sometimes.
