I find myself specializing my 'mechs more often than not, keeping the weapons to a similar range profile.

If its not an atlas it needs to go faster than 75km/h. I build from there. Most of the time i end up with melee range mechs...

With the new stalker variant and it's incredible number of hardpoints, I was wondering if other people were going to add only weapons that play one role or add multiple different weapons to it.

Of course this would be based on your current playstyle. Some like to be a jack of all trades, some like to only shoot at long range, or brawl.

So how do you specialize your mechs? Do you have 1 mech for each type of role, or perhaps even multiple mechs that can fill any role?

Note: I'd make this a poll if I was not scared to disable no-script on firefox (after the mishap today)

Probably specialize. May bring x2 SRM 6 just in case I get close to an Altas.

combat effectiveness depends on your team structure. if you're rolling with friends, you can specialize, otherwise it's valuable to have a more flexible build to adapt.

very true.

I love multi-role jack-of-all-trades Mechs armed with an assortment of weapons designed for different uses and purposes. And this I feel is what Mechwarrior has always been about. Just like modern-day warships have different weapons for different jobs, you'd only really ever rely on one set at any given moment of an engagement.

I'm happy to say this largely still exists in MWO which is a great improvement over a month or two ago when it was all about boating one weapon type. Haven't seen much of that lately.
With as much as you complain, try to specialize in something and tell us how it goes.

I like to play specialized mechs that fill multiple roles, personally.

I like to have one or two weapons that can reach out to at least 450m, and then a bunch of 270 or below weapons.
