For those who are not aware, follow this link:

http://mwomercs.com/pennyarcade

It looks like PGI and Penny Arcade got together to whip up some starter tips for new players, and to encourage them to read them they have offered free Premium time simply for logging in and clicking a button.

I'm surprised I didn't see it in the Announcements forum, actually, so that's why I started this thread. Feel free to use this space to thank PGI, call them fools for giving away Premium time, call PA sellouts for backing this, express your happiness that this will hopefully draw even more new players, suggest that perhaps this was actually a pretty brilliant marketing scheme (hooking people on Premium so when they run out they will go through withdrawal and need to buy more), or whatever else you feel like posting.

Thanks PGI and PA! The instructions you gave are surprisingly useful (especially the nice diagram about positioning), and I think your strategy of handing out a bit of Premium time to everyone will pay off in the long run (compare to Riot's occasional gifting of small amounts of RP to players, thereby giving them a taste and making them more likely to buy more).

I frequently take a look at the site but missed it somehow.
Thx!

Question: I am an elite founder and I haven't started my premium time. By doing this, does this mean I'll have 61 days of premium time when I activate it, or will I be able to activate the 1 day separately from the 60?

I am afraid to push the activate button to see what it says (since I don't know if it has a confirmation screen).

A great idea, but really, any new account should start with premium time. Then, when the premium time ends, a little pop up could notify players where they could get more.

1 day seems a little stingy to me, but I applaud PGI for moving in the right direction.

Combo this with a small amount of C-bills or your own 'mech... just limit the amount of C-bills to say 500,000 or 1 million (or your 'mech options to 1 chassis) so that players have no incentive to make multiple accounts. A new player will eventually realize being able to swap engines and parts saves them more than the small starting bonus.

Thanks for the info. No button pushing until after the new year, I guess.

Yes, its stored and if you push the Activate Button it starts for both the free time and the paid premium time - there is no way back so be careful.

I really like how the tips put dumbass piloting into a veterans perspective! Thanks for the day of free time Pennyarcade // PGI // IGP! I saw a thread about a day of free premium time and here we are... totally a step in the right direction. Whomever suggested that all accounts start with 24 hours of premium time is really on to something btw, the premium juice can make a huge difference meaning if you loose a lot you don't come out totally empty handed and if youre winning you come out feeling like richie rich B)
