For me, the Mauler was a classic mech. It was the Yin to the Atlas' Yang.

Where the Atlas is suited for close-range brawling matches, the Mauler is built for power at Range, but is also adaptable to many situations because of it's diverse hardpoints.

Thoughts?

hitboxes aside, that would be absolutely the best assault right now. if they made an atlas hero mech with those hardpoints, i'd give them all my remaining MC, ecm or no ecm

quad uac5 + 2srm6 + lasers.

that's not overpowered

of course they could nerf it a bit and put 2 ballistics in the center torso or something. Or crap on it some more and put one of them in the arm.

It seems like a no-brainer for this game, but with the Highlander (also 90t) confirmed for next assault, I think it will be a while before we see the mauler in this game.

Which is unfortunate, 'cause it is one bad-*** 'Mech.

Can't fit Quad UAC/5's in a mech with an XL Engine

Sure, you could drop a Standard in, but it's already running an XL270.

To get equal tonnage on the engine, you would have to drop in a Standard 215, or a 200 if you want to Include the weight of 2 additional heat sinks... how slow do ya want to go?

yeah you'll be slow, but a 250 should be doable with endo

16 tons of armor
4.5 ton chassis
36+6+2 tons weapons for uac5's, 2x srm6 and 2x medlaser
7 tons ammo
18.5 tons standard 250 (10 double heatsinks, should be enough for uac5's great damage/heat)

no tons or crits left though :(

I would love an assault with room for 4 UAC5.

Always loved the Mauler.

Oh man, I would love a Hero Mauler.

Just looking at those hardpoints, there is a massive variety of viable builds you could make.

Do want.

Hey, that's a handy thread.

I still want my Mauler.

Even though there are not enough documented variants of the Mauler, that shouldn't stop PGI from being able to develop a few.
