A thought occurred to me about 60 seconds ago that PGI should offer up the Hero Mechs as a trial mech for a brief period of time.

Now I hear: Bad idea! They'll get C-Bill bonuses from it and I paid £xx/$xx/€xx for my YLW, why should someone be able to play it for free?

Remove the whole C-Bill bonus from a Hero Trial. Keep it at stock, as is the nature of a Trial Mech, let people play it to decide how it handles and then they may wish to make a purchase of MC with their hard earned money, spending it on MWO and making more money for the company.

Yes, the stock variant Hero mechs may not be fantastic. No, you cannot customise a Trial Hero mech so you cannot get the most out of it... but you could at least play it and get a feel for how the mech performs before you purchase it, much like many people pick up a Trial Mech before spending 1.5 million to 15 million C-Bills on a mech of their choice or several million C-Bills on an engine/weapons loadout of their choice.

This could be tied in with a special sale or event where MC is cheaper or there's a 5% discount on said Hero mech for 1 week, as an example.

It doesn't devalue anyone who has already purchased a Hero mech. We can customise our Hero mechs however we want, they cannot. We get a C-Bill bonus, they do not.

TL:DR. Stock Hero mechs available as Trial Mechs on occasion with no C-Bills bonus in an attempt to raise extra revenue for PGI through Hero Mech purchases.

+1. I can't see a reason not to have them in the rotation.

Perhaps allow 1 Hero Mech at a time, and just swap them each patch? So you know... everyone would get a chance to test them, people would complain less about P2W, and trial Mechs would have more variety.

I like this idea, provided the bonus is removed.

I agree. The bonus should be removed for a Trial Hero Mech.

That could work, more so when there are a couple more Hero mechs available for rotation but only if it's 4 Trial Mechs + 1 Trial Hero Mech. Giving the newer players (and existing more casual players) the chance to pilot 1 of 4 mechs which they can by with the money they earn whilst playing gives them the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of the game as a whole (different chassis, different speeds, multiple weapons/weapons groups, heat management differences etc).
