I'm a Commando pilot since CB and my favorite Com has always been the 2d but with the current implementation of ECM I decided to level Hunchbacks. I find it boring to pilot my Com now, I want collisions back and I want to feel vulnerable out there even with ecm....
My ECM was never destroyed once by a critical hit, not once....
Has somebody seen ECM destroyed on a DDC or light?
Sophisticated electronic gear with little antennas, emitters etc. is tougher than a gauss rifle or an AC20?
I want to hear Betty saying "Ecm destroyed"... If devs are going to keep ecm as it is, ok their decision but make it vulnerable at least!

Question About Ecm

I know I have lost mine before on my ddc. But Im not sure if it was because I lost the whole torso or not. I can tell you one thing though its not as vulnerable as the gauss rifle (I seem to lose that thing a significant amount of the time when I get into 1v1s) and I rarely lose the ecm. Its only happened a handful of times in many many matches.

Gauss has a component health of 3; it's glass cannon. It's still a great weapon though.
I like the idea of a damage-weakness to the ECM suite. I wonder if it could be a gradient; the more damage it takes the worse it functions.

S!
It would add to the "realism" if ECM could be damaged or even destroyed as other components. The unit itself is located inside the MEch somewhere and the antennas/whatever emitting are on the outside of it. So let's say an antenna is on right shoulder of an Atlas D-DC and it get's blown off. You would lose a bit of your ECM strength, but not the whole system. Add to this some excess heat ECM would generate when trying so hard to do all the jamming, BAP being able to point out the general area where ECM is employed(without telling which Mechs are doing it), toggle on/off for situational use etc. and ECM would be more tactical than it is now. ECM is not run on all the time in RL because it would reveal you more than conceal

I was a dedicated 2D but the removal of knock downs compounded by the implementation of broken netcode and the over powered ECM have made pretty much anything light feel to easy as you can practically walk straight through the enemy all day and not die.
