I was close between the Victor and the Cyclops. I love both mechs, but I remember tearing face in a Cyclops in MW4, so picked it out of nostalgia. The Stalker is an excellent mech as well

FAVORITE? well, that would be the Marauder II. And, the OP didn't note, it has jump jets! This is what broke the tie it had in my mind with the Highlander. The Marauder just has a great set of weapons, and with the JJ's, the added maneuverability to use them quite effectively.

HOWEVER, if this pole was to determine what should be the next Assault Mech announced for MWO, I would have picked the Highlander or the Zeus. The Highlander fills the niche of a jumping mech that isn't as crappy as the Victor. The Zeus is just a good, common design that would be a good mech for House Steiner (and/or the FedComs).

For those saying it won't be the Zeus, well, it could be. There's two 50 tonners in the medium range, no 45 or 55 tonners there. So there's nothing stopping the assaults to be Awesome, Zeus, and Atlas to start. Actually that wouldn't be bad, three good mechs with three different styles.

The Marauder II followed by the Highlander would be my choices of mechs. I like the Marauder IIs look, the weapons can cover all ranges and at 100t, a nice bit of armor.

zeus for life! but i've always has a liking of the thug and highlander. and the cyclops because it's arguably one of the coolest looking mechs. does anyone have a link to that picture of a bunch of highlanders lined up for a procession or something?

Awesome is not on the list, too bad. So I picked the Charger; not much in the way of weaponry, but fast enough to keep up with the Mediums.

The Marauder II looks so incredibly sexy with its dorsal cannon.

if you're asking that in a list of mechs not yet in the game....I think you should do more reading and less voting ;-)

Good thing I didn't vote.

Highlander, something big enough to step on the Atlas' toes. Or more specificly, introduce that Atlas with its feet. (DFA FTW!)

And what's with all this love for Maulers? It's role is practically a sniper but look at it. That thing is HUGE!

"Oh no's! Where dem AC/2 rounds come from? OH! It was from that chubby thing!"

Really, a mech with that much surface area and that slow, might as well get a camo with a bullseye on it.

I'm going to pick two, and not because I want these two but because I suspect this is how the devs are thinking: They have four major factions they need to give preferred mechs, therefore, they'll create 16 mechs, 4 for each weight class and 1 of those 4 for each great house (my own Rasalhague gets bits from drac and feds).

So far the Assault mechs revealed have been the Atlas and Awesome. The Awesome, though seen throughout the innersphere, is primarily manufactured in the Free Worlds League so I'm putting that down as a Marik pick. The Atlas is a bit more tricky because it's made in both the Combine and the Federated Commonwealth. However, the mech plant in Combine territory was only captured from the feds in 3039 so I'm going to go with a Fed pick for that one. That leaves the Draconis Combine and the Capellans.

I think the Dracs will get either the Charger or the Katana (I'll say the Charger just because it's a bit more Iconic). The Capellans are more of a head scratcher, there aren't a lot of assaults I can find (for this era) that are uniquely of that house. My best guess is the Highlander, which does seem to be manufactured in their territory. Alternatively they may pick a generic popular mech like the Stalker.

So there you go. You heard it here first. The devs will definitely pick the above mentioned mechs for lore related reasons and not having to do with weight, balance or design aesthetic at all. Positively 100% sure. I have no doubts.

Victor , jsut becouse of the immense fun it was winning Solaris with it :P (hvy gauss + lb 20-x ac + srm6 = dead anything in 2 shots , + 2med laser for when its reloading...yeah i know clan tech and all) come on , even with stock weapons it has good firepower and atleast its an assault mech that has a fair chance at outmanuvering a slug ( no , not a bullet , but the small thing that walks with its stomach and carries its house around) unlike most of the other desings AND has jump jets to boot .

What you said makes sense, but could be a little different. Following the thought:

Zeus: Steiner's pride and joy - very common in all FC.
Charger: fast assault mech, used by the Capelans and Kuritans (and has very cool variants, like: the Hatamotos).

But I still think the devs will add the Stalker. It really needs some love right now.

PS: Highlander is too uncommon.

Of course we also need a jumping, mobile assault, like the Victor (used by both Davion and Kurita).

Oh, I forgot the Banshee. Man, Banshee will be definitely in soon.

Mauler. I have a soft spot for the Mauler because I had the toy that came out when the animated series was on the air.
